Yes all those songs together kind of flow, but seperatly each song is below average. He should of included my darling, music box, buffalo bill, CWYWF on the album. Music box > anything on relapse other than deja vu
I don't agree with you, each song has its own story telling and don't need the rest of the album to be dope and consistent as fuck, they objectively are great songs, even if you don't stick to the concept you have to admit that there is a lot of work behind these songs. Insane / SS&D / SWA / 3 A.M are my favorite tracks on the album and I listen to them very often, they're perfect tracks TO ME (yeah I like the Psycho/twisted/Drug addict/disturbing concept)
My Darling and CWYWF wouldn't fit with the rest of the album (I love both songs though), just like Beautiful (I rarely listen to this one on the other hand)
Buffalo Bill is great, same concept as the original Relapse album, but I think it would break the flow.
Music Box is a perfect track too imo and my favorite Em song of all time for a bunch of reasons, from lyrics to production. But I couldn't OBJECTIVELY say that it's better than any songs on Relapse.
I like Deja Vu but don't listen to it a lot the way I do with the rest of the album.
Relapse is a classic to you if you appreciate the global concept of the album. Even if the rhymes/lyrics are dope, even if the production is fantastic, if you're not into it, you won't be able to consider it a classic. TSSLP, TMMLP and TES are classics to almost everyone cause it doesn't stick to a specific concept as much as Relapse does. (even if they have their own too)
Crack a bottle and Beautiful are out of place. But Underground is great as a final track in my opinion. It's different from other Relapse's core songs but still shares the same concept. It doesn't break the flow when I listen to the whole album without CaB and Beautiful.
So yeah, minus the tracks that don't fit on the album I'd say it's a fucking classic and a masterpiece anyway. It's a matter of taste
