"My last song, Michael was still sober" instead of "My sorrow echoes in this hall though". I thought it was in reference to Michael Jackson. or something.
Irrelevant to the thread, but I can't stand it the (few) times Eminem adds "though" just to fit the rhyme
"Cause to this day we remain estranged and I hate it though"
"Rightfully maybe so, never meant that far to take it though,"
"And I'm way too old to cry, the shit is painful though"
"All I know is I love you too much to walk away though"
I think the "though" is necessary in the third one, but I see your point on the other ones. It's a cheat that most multi-heavy rappers use. They also cheat with "yo" a lot (especially 360).
"So does Nathan, yo!"
"Yo" is actually really flexible in that way. You can place it at the end of any thought and because you're a rapper, it often doesn't sound forced, yo.
"Bro" and "son" are also used often by rappers to cheat. One cheat that seems specific to Eminem is "ho."
I don't mind if a rapper uses any of these cheats if he's using them sparingly or if it doesn't take me out of the mood. They'll appear frequently in a bad writer's verses or in the verses of a good writer attempting to do something difficult (Eminem in Headlights).
Good post bro
