@ 'tooken' = proof that he's been changing words, literally, to fit rhymes from the get-go ala 'mistuck', poetic license should allow for that; many poets added words let alone changed them, there's a poetry in being able to make a broken word sound unbroken.

It's not even just to rhyme, it's how it sounds and to catch you off-guard aka 'straighter up'.
