I would have been classified as one of those "kids" that Eminem affected during the MMLP era. My friend when I was over at his house one day was playing music and than all of sudden that "Two trailer park girls go round the outside" plays and I'm falling in love with Without Me. He than showed me The Real Slim Shady music video, heard Big Weenie, Watched 8 Mile and was hooked by that point. Been a stan ever since.

It pretty much started with stan, real slim shady and forgot about dre on the radio. Then I stole my mom's mmlp. I'd never be the same after. Anyway, eminem was a pretty big thing in my family.I bought encore the day it came out We actually used to go to Michigan a lot and i'd always listen to my em cds there, those were great times.Apparently, I have some family who lived near dresden. (idk because I haven't been to detroit since I was about 5.) I remember being so excited for curtain call and then being so mad when I heard what the 3 new songs were. Before I knew about youtube, I found this website with a lot of eminem's unreleased songs and I would listen to them alot. I can't remember the name because I found it through the real player search, anyway the moral of the story is that i've should've never been introduced to eminem.

MMLP era? Sounds more like 2004-2005-ish.

It was from about 2000-2004, I live in an extremely conservative community and went to catholic school over this time so only heard a song every now and than, probably should have summed up the experience better since most of the stuff happened over a period of time. My bad.

I was in 4th or 5th grade, and had never listened to rap. I used to listen to radio-pop when I was a little kid. Some dude in my class introduced me and the others to "Without Me" when it was released, and I was instantly hooked. It was so different than the music I was used to and it sounded great. My English was bad so I didn't understand much except the chorus.

When "Sing For the Moment" was released most of those who liked "Without Me" in the class didn't like it because it wasn't as catchy, but for some reason I just loved, and the music video too.
Bought TES and was hooked since then. Used to sit and read in the booklet, think different things about Eminem and what kinda dude he is (I didn't know much about him). Great memories.

Great thread tbh...anyway i first heard of eminem as a 9yo kid when a friend played Lose Yourself and said "this is real rap". I didnt know very good english back then so i didnt give a fuck.

Then when i was 15 "Not Afraid" aired (MTV Greece) and when i was listening to it i was getting very pumped (although i didnt pay attention to the lyrics). Later that year something bad happened and i said "fuck it lets try and actually listen to the hole Recovery album" (it was random tbh) just to see if i would feel better (because of the Not Afraid feeling that i remembered).
Then magic happened, i experienced hate, love and the pain because of a loss (which was the problem i tried to get away from) by just listening to this guy. I got hooked to Eminem ever since

Ahaha everyone here's been a fan for like 10 years, I only got into em like 2 years ago (I'm 17 now), don't judge :sweating:
It was really really weird how I got into em, I never listened (thinking about it I didn't really listen to anything back then) until I saw some beats by dre and really wanted them, they looked so fucking cool ngl, so I was like, I know who dre is, but I've never heard anything by him so I went onto his youtube and I clicked on the first video (INAD) I watched it and WOW, it was like nothing I'd ever heard before, how someone could pour that much emotion and a story into a song with that much skill and rhyming going on, so I was like ... I need to get into this, I went onto em's wiki to see his discography and I saw TRRS and it was a title I recognised, saw it was in MMLP downloaded that and I was blown away! so I went back, saw TES was next and listened to that and I was like "where have you been my whole life!" and I became a stan, listened to all the albums and I've now listened to every song/skit/freestyle he's ever done (props to my man himshadow :b: ) so yeah that's it
Slim Shady shit sounds like a fable to me
