But why isn't he using it :/

I always think it's because he's scared that it might drag him to use drugs.

u wot m8, no way a voice can drag you back into drugs lmao

He doesn't use it cus it isnt his natural voice. Plus it would be fucking corny as fuck having a 40 yr old man talking like a 13 yr old kid

Or what else could it be? He doesn't have to rap about damn drugs and all shit he doesn't want, but if he can still use this awesome voice why doesn't he :S

Whenever he uses that voice he reluctantly goes into the nearest chemist and buys a shit ton of sleeping meds which he plans to cram down his throat. Tragic really.....tragic

Lol so true...and i laughed my ass out during his interview on Shade45 where he listened to an old freestyle of his and he replied with his nasal voice saying "Except my voice was a lot higher and i dont know why" :)

Sadly that is what it feels like. And I hope Eminem is just toying with us so he can lower our expectations and go out with a bang. I'm serious. I doubt it will happen but I hope Eminem really has just been toying with us. He can't possibly be this bad at rap.

I agree completely, on 'Bad Guy,' the Stan voice is on point. And some lines in 'Calm Down' of course
"It's just me, you and the music now, Slim, I hope you hear it!"

I agree. :y:

Except SSLP Eminem was clean as a whistle. It wasn't until he went on tour that he even started smoking weed. He resented weed and potheads in his underground days.

"I quit smoking sess to open my chest." "But they threw me in the mix with all these gloomy lunatics/Who walk around depressed, and smoke a pound of sess a day."

To answer the question, at some point Eminem developed polyps on the back of his tonsils eating his vocal chords after his concerts. I don't think he was just saying that for effect on Bad Guy. At some point, all the yelling altered his voice.

Add to that his dialect evolving over time as he started hanging out with different people.

The thing with his voice is that from 1997 to 2009 it was all a natural progression of his voice, it sounded similar but slightly different (unless he was using accents). From 2009-2010 the jump was gigantic. The screaming voice was forced, and not a natural voice coming out of him at the time. His voice on most of MMLP2 is mostly natural too. Really, Recovery and the following features were the only non Eminem sounding voices.

He doesn't need that Shady voice. Even if he just went back to the smoother MMLP1 voice, his delivery would come across more ~old timey~. This new loud voice isn't going to do his vocal cords any favours in the future, either.
