@ therapist if you're still in here: agreed, Recovery was a fucking great album. Outside of this forum, most tend to agree.

I can appreciate Relapse for its technical skill but putting out Relapse 2 would have buried his career commercially.

Not only can't it not get spins on radio for it's content, but coming from the type of songs he made on Eminem Show, to revert back to shock rap, violent imagery, celebrity name drops -- with a weird accent, for TWO straight albums would have been absolutely too much.

I think he found a nice medium with Refill. Sort of like a Relapse 1.5

The hardcore stans can enjoy Relapse and Refill, and he can put out Recovery for the people who appreciate his more mature records.

Recovery, obviously having a double meaning. Recovering from addiction and recovering his name and place in the game after having it tarnished.

Dear Future Patz... If you managed to make all those dreams come true... I told you so. Should've never doubted me. I hope MMLP2 inspired you in some way.

Oh, and I demand 20% of all earnings. Just saying. And the bitches.

I loved it. I can understand some fans not liking it but even the most hardcore Relapse stan can objectively admit two straight albums of that kind of material would have done more harm than good for his career. Hell, as versatile as he is, two straight albums of the same sound would be bad no matter what.

Dude, yes. People object to the style without realizing that most of it is good pop music, not substanceless crap. There were plenty of bunk moments, as there have been throughout the comeback and his learning to be great once more. We ain't out of the woods yet, but we're getting there! Recovery was solid, and MMLP2 will be solid.

agreed, i would be fine with him releasing relapse 2 as a mixtape but as his next album after relapse? not a good move in terms of artistic growth. Recovery was a much needed album imo and if feel like MMLP2 will also reflect a more mature sound just like Recovery did (in terms of execution and drive, and content) - i do think that MMLP2 will sound MUCH more natural though in terms of his actual voice, and i feel the production will help with this.
