I have a hard time describing what he sounds like now tbh. I just feel like he's trying to be the loudest person in the room. DN was good because it was anger/annoyed based loud, now he's just being loud to be loud. imo, anyway.

Basically, I love Em being loud when there is emotion behind it. In a lot of MMLP2 I feel like he was being loud, just for the hell of it.

I feel like Em's voice on the majority of Recovery was going bonkers. I don't know why he felt he needed to yell so much on that album, I guess to drive home the point that he was rejuvenated.

How is he being loud? He's rapping in a normal voice for like 95% of the album. The music might be loud but Eminems music has always been louder in general.
Recovery was loud for the sake of it, but the raw emotion on MMLP2 sounds really natural.

I concur. He's sparingly loud on MMLP2. I love his voice on the album

The only album I think he's overly loud on is Recovery

Besides ''Survival'' I don't know what else on MMLP2 you're talking about, I'll agree about Recovery.
Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

Yes :y: Recovery sounds forced. This however, does not.

I doubt he was completely sober during SSLP. He probably wasn't a drug addict, but I'm sure he casually smoked weed and stuff like that.

I'm sure he probably took a puff or two every once in a blue moon when D12 had some on them, but other than that, he didn't have the money nor the time to do much of anything. He was busy working two jobs and trying to afford diapers for Hailie. Whatever was left he put into his music.
