I love it too tbh. It's just an unconventional flow for the type of beat it's on. I think that's what throws people off.

I like the experimentation don't get me wrong, but I'd love a flow akin to "The Warning" on this. Still technically dope, but also not as experimental. I liked the experimentation for the most part on MMLP2, but there were points where the focus on technical achievement did hamper my enjoyment of the song. I think it was the occasional random stop, it was sometimes jarring.

All you can do it handle it, worst thing you can do is panic
Use it to your advantage, avoid insanity manage

Even when winning illogical, losing is still far from optional.." -T.I.

I can't stress it enough how important it is to strip yourself of expectations/predispositions prior to an album release. There's no way you can lose with that route. you're either right in not getting your hopes up, or you're pleasantly surprised.

Yup. I do that before every project I listen to, period...well, actually, no. I just force myself to lower my expectations, I don't rid myself of them.

But honestly, for this album, I didn't really have any expectations to begin with, probably because I'm still extremely satisfied with MMLP2 a year later and could have probably waited another half a year-full year before Eminem music dropped. I'm just readying myself to not hear Eminem and/or Denaun on "Bane" because that's basically the only song that I'm actively looking forward to.

Technicality took a back seat on Recovery. From what I can ascertain, this was the most common hang up about the album.
