About headlights. I think it's an amazing song to but I had to edit out the hooks. At first I couldn't stand it, now that I edited out the hooks the song is one of the best Eminem songs and a milestone in his career.
I don't know what the fun guy does in the hook tho. He didn't know Eminems mother, why is he singing to her? Eminem should have done the hook himself, it would be even more personal that way. But the fun guy makes it sound so unpersonal and make it just another pop song. But Editing out the hooks the song really get's to the heights of a masterpiece.

There's already a Christmas reference in the song, + I feel Nate's hook gives it that holiday feeling too lol, and Christmas is sometimes a period where families get together once a year if they live apart or sth. Just a small theory but I can see it happening

(by a Christmas single I just mean a single released around Christmas period)

That would be really really cool but I doubt it.

Imagine Debbie Mathers actually taking part in the video, where she bumpts into Em, Hailie and Nate while they were on their way to get hamburgers, they introduce her, and as she leaves, Em looks back and sees his mother's headlights shining in the dark (while raining).... And I imagine the part where he's in the plane is about to crash might be cool too

Anyway, I am now a HUGE fan of Nate Ruess, he pulled off the most powerful sung hook on rap song I've ever heard tbh. Will definitely be checking Fun out in the future

All I want now is a future Ed Sheeran feature

I made a thread about that a while ago yo. Sounds like an Xmas single.

Eh, Nate's hook is good but it isn't very well written.

Tragic portrait of an artist tortured
Trapped in his own drawings

But in my head there’s a voice in the back and it hollas
After the track is demolished
I am your lack of a conscience

I’m your time that’s almost up that you haven’t acknowledged
Grab for some water but I’m that pill that’s too jagged to swallow

Hopsinshadie wrote:My new updated thoughts on MMLP2.

I must say: This album is about growing up and getting through tough times. And it is helping me do that, although I was initially disappointed in the direction it took.

'Beautiful Pain' is a song that is helping me get over my ex, but it helps me reflect on the beautiful times that we had together throughout our relationship. I treated her bad, but believe I'm a better person now. Listening to this song helps me reach closure. And who knows, maybe one day she'll come back.

'Legacy' also is very inspirational. It helps me reflect on the bullies I had growing up. I was always wired differently too just like Em. I was always self motivated as well. Legacy helps me relive tough times.

And lastly I hate to say it but I have listening to 'Survival' on my ipod when doing weights and the step mill at the gym. Been releasing a lot of my anger and tension through this song the last 2 days.

One of the things I always loved about Em is that the way he felt was often the way I felt deep down. When he was a rebel, he striked against the world. Now he's more mature, much like me, and I can relate to a lot of the stuff he's talking about, sometimes even get chills. I did almost cry when listening to 'Headlights.''

What I also realized about this album is that it has a mixture of different Eminem's. So depending on your mood, you can listen to different songs. Even Monster touched me because he said that it'll be worth it to reach out to one of a hundred million. I feel like I am one of those 1 in hundred million.
This album had to be done. It's taken me a lot of guts to adjust to this new style and I still am. Honestly a part of me is pissed off that there was no immature Eminem. But this was the way. And I have to say the fire is coming back to me as well. The fire is back, yo. I'm all about setting out goals for myself just like Em.

The album, I think, is about going back to his past and CLOSING it. He does that with Headlights. That's why he's not on the cover, but instead supposed to be like he's in a car (on the Deluxe) driving away from his past leaving it behind. MMLP2 is meant to close that chapter of his life and begin a new.
