Don't know what kind of real hip hop heads you hang with, most Em fans aren't even into hip hop all that much, but nearly anyone in the hip hop community wasn't feeling Relapse. If it didn't have accents, the album would be 100x better.

No it wouldn't.

Most of the time it's not even an 'accent', it's just Em emphasizing vowels and maximizing the pronunciation of words, and tone-wise and vocally... it sounds kind of demented... which is what he was going for; it's in-character... and along with the beats, the whole thing gels and works.

Relapse would be 10x worse without the specific flows and delivery that make it what is is; it's written in such an odd style, aka saying psychopathic things in quite eloquent and dainty ways, that a kind of 'tortured, demented, bizarre' vocal / delivery is needed to sell that and to make it feel at home, if he was rapping it in its usual forceful way, a lot of the dramatic / abstract feel would be lost. It would just sound like Eminem saying crazy things, rather than a very theatrical little world.

People who dislike Relapse or don't get its brilliance have shit minds and taste.

Yeah well he seems like a good producer but I feel like... although MMLP2 won't have the problems of sound quality / shit beats Recovery had... it's going to have the same problems of being over-produced and noisy. I listened to Relapse again yesterday and it sounded like heaven... so clear, so loud, so crisp and so melodic... from "Berzerk" / initial signs... feels like this is going to sound like a loud-ass, really loud-ass rock-rap album, which no matter how good Em's rapping/concepts are... will overshadow his voice and it'll just sound like a crock of shit again. Sigh.

It will be a classic. All signs point to it being so.

Wasn't it you who I saw post in another thread... or somewhere... saying Em thinks the blonde hair and title is Em thinking they will distract us from noticing how shitty his new music is?

Or was that someone else? Apologies if it was lmao.

I swear man, every time I listen to Relapse, I feel like its my favourite album (even though it isnt). Its such a great album.

I feel the same way... Recovery kinda gets worse... many have said this... I love rapping along with Recovery and there's a lot of high-points, but everything about it dates a lot easier; due to the fact most of the elements (the hooks, the production/samples, the puns) are so finite, populist or for the wrong reasons... they all eventually grate and wear-thin.

Relapse gave me pure like, kid-like excitement when I first listened to it like "ooooh, wow" and just marveling at all the little moments of detail and the craft, yet, sparse/distinct sound...

Every time I listen to it again it takes me back to that and rapping along to every song is so fun and enjoyable. Also; when I listened yesterday... I just put 'the 12' tracks which I feel are/were probably the actual intended album aka without the final 3 from diff albums/sounds tacked on...

And wow, it's beyond solid. It's SO cohesive. Maybe even more consistent than TES... neither album has even one song which doesn't sound of its world but TES arguably has a few more 'meh' moments or songs than it I think... I can listen to the 12 of Relapse back to front each time and love every moment of every track. And the production is so on-point and unique too.

The album is godly. When I see people on StudioLeaks saying things like "well, it's not good by any stretch of the imagination, but it's bearable" LMAO, I just think 'wow, you cocks, you try SOOO hard', I bet they all secretly sit there rapping their fucking ass off to "Stay WIde Awake".

'not good by any stretch' lmfao, I actually saw that too. Cocks. Relapse ftw.

Why do you think that? I'd say maybe mid-October.

We're gonna rock this house until we knock it down
So turn the volume loud, cause it's mayhem 'til the a.m.
So baby make just like K-Fed and let yourself go, let yourself go
Say fuck it before we kick the bucket
Life's too short to not go for broke

Go Berzerk!

You guys talk about Relapse, but I'm always skip Stan when I listen to MMLP. This is genius song no doubt, but it's so fucking boring to listen to it for me..

I just hope this album isn't throwback themed. I could see og hip hop heads lovin it but ehh. Crossing my fingers hoping Berzerk was the only throwback type of track on this record.

Quit Dreamin' Slim

Eminembase- I agree Relapse has some sick flows and is a really cohesive album, but it's still not close to being as good as The Eminem Show... Come on man that shit is incontrovertibly one of the top 2 Em albums and in my opinion it's numero uno.
I walk around like a space cadet, place your bets
Who's likely to become a serial killer? Case of tourettes
Fuck, fuck, fuck! Can't take the stress
I make a mess as the day progresses
Angry and take it out on the neighbors hedges like this is how I'll cut
Your face up bitches with these hedge trimming scissors with razor edges
Imagination's dangerous, it's the only way to escape this mess
And make the best of this situation, I guess

Sounds like some shit you just thought up
Em's been known to spit some wack bars but I'm guessing this is your well put together verse.

I said it's perhaps more consistent/cohesive fam, not a better album.

I mean the sound that's carried throughout and how each song compliments each other, and flow in to the next, and how unique/consistent the sound is may be more-so with Relapse.

But TES is a better album.
