I have never seen a hip hop head show love to Relapse. The thing about this album is that it wasn't aimed for the general public, it was aimed for Eminem fans who was down with him since SSLP... but admit it or not, Em' failed because only the minority of those fans loved it, some of then hated and mostly was like "ehh".

Personally, I like the album as a whole. It's a good project but it wasn't what I expected as his "returning album". But its still better than Recovery.

Dre's work on My Mom is crazy. And I always liked the transition from 3am to My Mom.

I have seen hip hop heads praising Em's technique in it, but thats it. Never saw them really showing love to the album. But ayway... that's irrelevant haha

Relapse was something which was not expected from Em. People were taken aback by the accent and style in the album. Knowing the Eminem of mmlp and tes people were expecting something on the same line. However the completely different sound of relapse eluded it from being appreciated for what it is. it would have been judged more fairly if released by a new rapper or if it was ems debut album

I don't get the praise on Dre when people bring up Relapse. Wasn't it Dewaun Parker who produced most of the music on the record?...

Say your opinion on anything to do with Relapse in a negative light.....you're a fucking idiot. But call people ridiculous for claiming Relapse is anything near a classic, you need to respect peoples opunions. Funny thing aside from this site, not too many people are or were ever high on relapse. It was a decent album dragged down by an accent, and had no emotion from Em whatsoever.

I still rate both Relapse and Recovery as B albums, I just prefer Recovery. Im entitled to my opinion right guys?

Oh and Menzo or whatever the fuck, a lot of people loved Beautiful. Your opinion isnt the endvall be all man, but you seem to act like it is.....

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing an interview with Parker and how he said something about producing most if not all the tracks on relapse.

Can we move back to MMLP2 talk? No opinion is factual btw. Could make more sense or be idiotic, but not factual.

What is with all the hate on Underground? That song is straight fire. It's also my favorite song off the Relapse.
You thought I was lyin' when I said I think that I'm crossin' the line again?
I've lost my mind, caution oh God I think I've just thought of another fucking line

Yep, good man :y:

I wonder when they intend the video for "Berzerk" to drop...kinda hope soon but probably mid October.

I gotta say sooner than that.. I still think we will get a second single in the 2 weeks prior to album drop. If that's the case, I think a video will come out in the next 2 or 3 weeks.

I don't know why initial reaction should define an album forever. It's true that Relapse was viewed as a weird departure as his big comeback record, but I think the silly voices and weird content reminded too many people of Encore. Like "Damn, why's he still doing these childish voices?" It was awkward at first listen, though I still loved the multies and technique.

Now that it's had time to breathe, hardcore Eminem fans listen again and realize that the album had a lot of merit that got drowned out by superficial BS. If you approach Relapse without preconceived notions, you realize the artistry and experimentation. You realize how cool it is that he came back and did what the fuck he wanted, and not what everyone expected. So, outside of the context of it's 2009 release and all that baggage he had in his career at the time...people view it differently.

I think fans who don't have Eminem in their favorite rappers list are more likely to have listened to the CD, judged it right away...and then never go back to it. But this is common. Some of Nas's catalogue has grown in stature too. Like "I Am...". It was viewed as a disappointment when it was released but then people grew to like it later(like I did). This happens all the time in the entertainment industry.

Edit: Oops, topic switched. Well, this could happen with MMLP2 as well. Album isn't what we expect, it gets mixed reaction...and then in a few years we appreciate it for what it is.

Beautiful is considered a gem on an otherwise trash album by the majority of the hip hop community. On here it's the total opposite (See Relapse elim thread).

I think Relapse is his worst album and that Em's comments on the 2010 J Ross interview were spot on in regard to the album.

"Beautiful" is not considered a gem, anywhere...to people that matter.

So its "factual" that Beautiful isn't considered a gem or good song to anyone who matters? Sounds like an, opinion with no base whatsoever other than this site, which isn't anything close to the general public concensus. But naw, its facts because YOU said it was.
