What about it do you think is better?

The message of TM >>> LTWYL

But, I prefer the delivery of LTWYL. The emotion backing the song is more powerful. He was into it while recording (same with all of Recovery, I suppose). There's corny moments, but same with TM.

I'm not choosing sides, but what about TM puts it above LTWYL? The writing?

Plus, Megan Fox > Rihanna's strangled tits.

His delivery on The Monster is much better for me, he just sounds more comfortable in the booth here plus there's no corny moments where the beat drops and he's crushing in lines at the end of the verse.
I prefer the Monster's hook and beat also then there the music videos (doesn't change the song but add's something to it)
LTWYL's vid was ok and matched the lyrics but it was nothing great + Megan Fox
TM's vid was his best in years, very cool idea and masterfully executed. Rihanna's tits are ridiculous though.

TM's video is way better. I was kiddin. ;)

Maybe I'm giving it less credit than it deserves, because it's in the midst of a better album. When it's shoulder to shoulder with Brainless, Love Game, etc., it's easier to overlook. It's definitely one of the weakest songs on the album. It's probably the worst IMO.

LTWYL, on the other hand, only competes with other average tracks.

Singin' "Bagpipes from Baghdad" again
In my dad's drag draggin' a faggot in a Glad bag
Won't be the last time I make a dramatic entrance like that again
You thought I was lyin' when I said I think that I'm crossin' the line again
I've lost my mind, caution oh God I think I've just thought of another fucking line
Forgive me father, for I have sinned
But hip hop has left me brainwashed with a violent streak

The message of TM = the trappings of fame...

I wouldn't say that's better or more impactful than LTWYL.

LTWYL was a unique pair-up and brilliant idea for a collab, couldn't of worked like it did with anybody else and it was also timely, a timely piece of work to have that ''art reflecting real life'' quality to it. Lots of corny moments in the song and if Em could re-write those now... the shit could be x10 better but overall it's a good song with detailed writing and conceptually much stronger than TM.

But not to front on TM, writing is fly, as is all MMLP2 writing and some of my fave Em writing/flows ever.

Maybe that was a poor choice of wording. Content* is what I'm looking for.

I prefer the actual lines that make up TM (as opposed to the overall "message"). He's more revealing, more personal, and it's not another Recovery-esque love story.

I agree with everything tho. The message of LTWYL is a chord-striker for the audience; it's relatable. TM isn't the same, unless you have a monster under your bed. :y:

I haven't bumped it in ages myself, will have a listen soon (and that's not Rosenbergs version of soon either :D )

It may seem biased but I honestly think bar for bar, Em is still at the top of the rap game. I'm confident he could fuck up just about any rapper on their own track.

Yeah, definitely breh, he's sharper than ever atm, just hope he stays in this mindset throughout the rest of his career
