Similarities between Sing For The Moment and Don't Come Down

Postby xxTrigger1989xx » Jan 10th, '11, 23:14

Well, since I've just recently heard Obie Trice's Cheers album for the first time, I was listening to the song Don't Come Down (great song, btw) and I noticed that the production on this song is similar to another Em produced track, Sing For The Moment. The beat is almost identical, it uses guitars through out, and there's even a guitar solo at the end, just like in SFTM.

Has anyone else heard these similarities? Or am I just going crazy and I don't know what I'm talking about lol?

Came back to annihilate, the game's in dire straights, as I await
Word on Satan, as I drop, fall to my knees before this Quija board and I pray
Now I lay me down to sleep
I do this shit in my sleep, I’m sleepin' now, imagine if I awake

Eh yeah I can hear it, IDK it I would have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out. They're not THAT similar I don't think. Sounds kinda like a Kanye version of SFTM, with the high sampled voice and all.

Dude, the fuck, I'm liftin right, so my stereo is on the stool where I sit for this (laptop), so I'm standing behind the stool to type right now, and I clicked this thread from the homepage, so I couldn't see the second song you have in the title, and when I went to lean over to read this, the lifting belt I have on hit the cd I'm playing one track ahead...to don't come down. I just put cheers in, listening for the first time to this cd in prolly 4 years plus, damn this shits creepy haha :sweating:

But I think the similarity is in the feel more than anything, not necessarily the content persay :y:

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Like the music, not the content, no. It's just, to me, the beat sounds extremely similar

@zedzero: Yup, I just downloaded it like two days ago. I wasn't in to rap back when this was released, but Geno made a thread in the Reviews forum about it and I decided to give it a listen. I liked it a lot :y:
