How does Em edit his voice for his hooks?

I know what layering is, I just wasn't sure if that's all there was to it. I know he layers his hooks, but is there some other effect he's using? It sounds like it's smoothed out a lil, maybe a very subtle autotune or something like that? WTP is a good example...

No, I don't think so. It's just the way you mix and master the vocals.

Yeah, Pro Tools is just like FL, Reason, Logic, Sonar or Cubase. Most artists/producers/sound engineers choose to work with it instead of the others.

Nah it's for sure high. IDK, I'm just pretty sure there's some editing beyond just layering his vocals. I don't have a problem with it, I'm just curious.

I don't know if this makes any sense, so don't blame me if I'm wrong. I once asked a producer the same question, and he told me that he just recorded one take in low octave, and another in high octave, and layered them. Not sure if this makes sense, but that's what I was told. If you hear Em's singing bit after the gunshot in "Space Bound", you can tell it's two layers of him singing, one low pitched and the other high.

No, he's a decent singer, he just can't naturally sing a lot of his hooks and have them sound the way they do.

Im sure theres certain tweaks on most of his hooks, and yes i wouldnt be suprised if there was some pitch correction on some hooks. The vocals on Not afraid prove this no way he can sing like that.

Thats not what most would call good singing. Its called being able to sing in tune, not much more (Though it is much better than Brittany Spears, you should hear what she sounds like without all the processing its one of the worst voices in existence)

Yeah I Actually Thought About This Too He's The One Of Really Few People Who Can't Sing But Still Doesn't Make You Cringe But People Would Be Impressed By What Your'e Able To Do In A Studio... I'm Pretty Sure Hes Had Some Kind Of "Singing Teacher" But As Far As Audible Modifications Go Theres The Pitch, The Layering, Equalizers and Mild "autotune".. And Over The Years He Probably Evolved His Own Methods.. For Example He Holds His Nose During That Joe Briefcase Song To Make It Even More Nasal..
