Eminem = Breaking Bad

Postby EminemInsider » Jan 22nd, '12, 04:08

Season 1 = SSLP
Season 2 = MMLP
Season 3 = TES

Of course, BB hasn't had an Encore disaster season yet (Seasons 3 and 4 were both inferior to the first 2, but Vince Gilligan and co. were definitely not on pills when they wrote them) ... but maybe that's going to be how it goes out.

And then you have the Eminem/Walt parallel. Both of them have alter egos whom imbecilic fans on the internet try to separate from their "regular" personalities, when it's the same fucking person and all they're doing is changing their name (Slim Shady = Heisenberg).

"Duhhhh, Walt is eeeeevillll now, he is officially HEISENBERG!1"

"Duhhhh, Eminem is making da craaazy psycho cartoonish SLIM SHADY musik."

Then you have Jesse and his addictions and rehab stints and the resulting diluting of his w1gger personality. If he said "yo" now with his new metrosexual vibe, it would seem ridiculous...just like it does when Eminem tries to be the old him now.

I can't even decide who is Eminem between Walt and Jesse. On one hand, Walt could be the Dr. Dre to Eminem's Jesse. On the other, Eminem's more of a scientist than Dre when it comes to music. If there's a breath contaminating his verses, he will throw out the whole batch as if a fly just got in his meth lab.

I want to watch this show just to understand this comparison.

I still stick by the Eminem and Simpsons comparison as well. Although I do still listen to new Eminem songs, can't say I watch new Simpsons.

What's the comparison? The show was good until Season 10.
Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

They both started emotion-based (Infinite/season 1), which although not the best, layed a foundation for what was to come. They were both virtually flawless for a period (97-02/season 2-season 7), with both using humour as a veil for emotion and social issues or commentary. Most fans wouldn't pick up on half of what both did. Then they started to slip (2003/season 8/9) before getting really bad (04-07/season 10-13). Had some bright moments after that but never got anywhere near where they used to be.

They're also both the best in their particular field.

Watch it. It's incredibly well-written with tight plotting and acting. But since you don't enjoy dramas, I'm not sure you'll like it. It's has some humorous moments.

On-Topic - Nice comparison. Agreed on that annoying Heisenberg thing.

*Breaking Bad spoilers*
.. Yeah, I also think the first 2 seasons were better than the later 2. The writing was better. Not a fan of the shitty cliche cousins in season 3. Nor am I a fan of the contrived ricin/poisoning in late S4. I find it hard to believe that Jesse wouldn't smoke a cigarette between the time he finished from the lab and the hospital.

Down was the best episode of the show. I loved the episode because of how Walt and Jesse were dealing with their own problems separately with the culmination at the end in the RV.

The whole Walt/Krazy-8 thing with the broken plate was phenomenal. That blew me away the first time I watched it.*breaking bad spoiler*

Insider, What did you think of Season 4? And what were your favorite episodes?

Game of Thrones is another fantastic show. A complex mature fantasy.

Breaking Bad is my favorite show of all time.. the story is written amazingly.
the first two seasons were phenomenal but i have to disagree that season 3 wasnt as good.
i thought season 3 was just as excellent. especially the last couple episodes. The cliffhanger ending at the end of season 3 was just mind blowing. I cant wait for season 5 - the last season unfortunately.

Worst moment of the show is..

Spoilers..When the cliche cousins were at Walt's house, sitting on his bed, waiting for him to finish showering and come out. Only, for him to get away at the last moments by a text msg. sent to them.

Felt like I was watching a crappy thriller.

Jesse's first monologue In One Minute was pretty poor. Loved the second one.

Season 3 & 4 are still definitely quality with some fantastic moments.

The first 2 seasons (up until the end of the S2 finale) were perfectly-executed black comedy.

Since the absurd plane crash in the season 2 finale, they've mostly gone away from that and are stretching believability too much.

Fantastic show altogether, but I think the biggest problem with Breaking Bad is that the main focus startd off as a science teacher all of a sudden selling drugs to support his family because of his cancer. But now, I think his cancer has been mentioned once this past season. It's been veering off from its main course for a while.

By the way, this is 'UofLCardFan08'. I stumbled upon my old account recently and somehow remembered the old password I made 6-7 years ago. :D

The Cousins were definitely some pill-influenced writing.

I'm pretty sure the cancer will come into play during the final season. (Shooting begins March)

OT: The Walking Dead is probably the most overrated TV drama I have ever seen.

Don't even compare Eminem to Jesse let alone the premier series Breaking Bad. That show is unprecedented. Eminem's first 3 albums compare to the series, but not Relapse or Recovery. Jesse is my Cat, the koolest cat around. The show knows when to quit though, that was Eminem's problem.

Very good show. The plane crash was kinda stupid though, wasn't it? The debris just happens to fall in Walt's backyard pool?

It's interesting to watch Jesse get better and better at cooking as time goes on.

What's funny is some people on IMDB actually predicted that it was a plane crash.

It just seemed too contrived to me. Jane's father just so happens to be an air traffic control employee, and he just so happens to be let back to work before he's ready, and he just so happens to screw up, leading to a mid-air collision, leading to stuff happening to fall into Walt's backyard.

And the moral is, "IT'S ALL WALT'S FAULT!!!111"

I actually think Eminem's first three albums mirror Tarantino's first three films and progression...

SSLP / Reservoir Dogs - witty, gritty, strange and original; popular and recognized, but more of a cult status. Known in the mainstream but not overly so, and regarded by some as their most raw and special work. Their introductions.

MMLP / Pulp Fiction - big, bolsterous, daring, inventive, hilarious and legendary; both masterpieces of their genres and regarded by many as their best works, the artists combining everything about them together that makes them great to create something very big, provocative and innovative, and which builds successively on the first. Always the standard to which they're held too.

TES / Jackie Brown - most mature and refined, their third work; a combination of their first two with elements of growth and style, and substance.

Those three really do mirror each other in feel quite a bit IMO. Raw... Genius... Mature. They even amazingly mirror each other in terms of - TES/Jackie Brown is when they were both regarded by some to take a step backwards in terms of artistry, and create something not quite as daring... but yet in many ways better, and their most realized and coherent work.

Then it begins to go downhill.

I wouldn't say Kill Bill mirrors Encore, but Deathproof perhaps does.
