I don't even consider the possibility of Em ruining his legacy like Wayne did, plus Wayne's legacy wasn't anywhere near where Em's one is. It would take much more than just one bad album (without counting Encore) for Em to ruin his legacy. He's considered one of the greatest rappers ever, while Wayne isn't. Weezy gets hate from lots of Hip Hop heads, while Em receives the "normal" amount of hate for a superstar of his caliber. The same amount of hate received by Jay, Nas, Kanye etc.

oh i thought you were still talking about sequels to albums that didn't live up to the originals (jay with bp2 & 3, wayne with the carters, nas with stillmatic).

i think yeezus has a lot of artistic merit though. the focal point of that album was meant to be the music, not the rapping. he was trying his hand at the chicago music scene (house i guess), his intent wasn't to make anything similar to mbdtf.

still probably his weakest, but not really a sign of decline in ability.

well they're both unspectacular and at times uninspired records but I think overall, they're both pretty good. Not great at all though. LIG stays overrated tho tbh

but yeah ik what u mean... although i don't think highly of the song at all, it's his best lead single in over 10 years (they've all been awful though) so i suppose that's a little promising. rly doubt he'll drop a classic but a solid effort shouldn't be out of reach for him

this is better than survival though, that song is garbage from any stand point tbh. when it was released i said it was average but it's so generic and uninspired that i can't even call it that. the lyrics are very empty and average too. at least he didn't take the safest route possible with this song.

berzerk also has a couple good lines (on top of some pretty bad ones), something we haven't seen in his recent music. still some awful lyrics though

Comments like this are why hip hop fans hate Stans.

The second verse is awful lol

How can you even compare Berzerk to any thing Wayne does? Berzerk is a creative / fresh song, lyrically it's silly but it's supposed to be. Wayne's songs are turds with no effort put into them.

honestly, i think all the lil wayne bashing is overrated, and it's mostly stans that do it.

to me, survival was decent, but a retread. berzerk was the kind of change we were all looking for.

Gravy is a hero doing god and Basedshady's work.

Anybody in general who wants to go and throw all of Wayne's music in a box then go like ENCORE IS WAY BETTER THAN ANY OTHER RAP ALBUM STILL PFFFF should log out of the forum and not come back.

yes. i think lil wayne is a decent rapper. not the best, but he's very entertaining, and i just like his carefree style. he has lots of great lyrics, lots of outright awful lyrics. he's strange for sure, but he's himself. i like his humor. he's not meant to be taken seriously, though he does have a some serious lyrics i like.
