Theories you've developed based on the tracklist

Postby Shuttle Destroyer » Oct 11th, '13, 06:59

Reading the tracklist usually make us wonder about how the songs are going to be, so let's place our theories here so we can discuss it

Here's mine, which I personally don't think this is goint to happen, but let's go

On the MMLP outro Criminal, Em says ''I'm the bad guy who makes fun of people that die''
Maybe, on the intro to MMLP2, which is named ''Bad Guy'' he will sample that line somewhere in the track (the intro or on the hook) as the lyrics tell his story of always being the bad guy in the rap game, whether it's on the past, where he got accused of being a bad influence, or on the present, which we'll know more of what it means on the song

I have a theory that MMLP2 might be shit.

Oh and Rihanna is trash.

My theories are as follows...

1. Em has become as generic as the type of Eminem fans he begged to love him by scrapping R2, and his artistic vision has suffered greatly: which is why the track titles look identical to ones fans have been inventing for months now... not to mention the fact he sees nothing wrong with putting a song like "Survival", which is a fucking COD promo too... on MMLP2... let alone Skylar and Rihanna... wow.

(In fact I'm pretty sure fans have literally come up with 'legacy' and 'so far...' multiple times over... how fucking shamefully obvious and generic for Eminem. Wtf.)

2. This will be Recovery 2.

I think there will clearly be many genius moments of like 'wow' rapping, but there were on Recovery too... that's not fucking MMLP... I REALLLLY hope that I'm profoundly wrong and the rest of the album just makes this something totally unexpected. But all the signs so far are fucking terrible.

Seems like he would rather make an album of 'good music' and anthems that can be played over sports montages ('legacy', 'headlights'... really?... you can even predict what the fucking content of those is going to be, it's so lame (as in... satisfying to the ears but just 'good verse', nice hook, good verse; everything is a literal explanation of what he's doing with a broad spacey hook to sum it up in a cute little tv-friendly metaphor) rather than creating any kind of challenging art or really thinking carefully about what MMLP even was and still is to people. For starters; to even associate an official album track with fucking COD... and have the shit in the video too... that's just absurd. His rapping remains very good but everything else about Eminem has now turned to shit.

Hope to fuck I'm wronger than I've ever been.

One of my theories is that Bad Guy will start with "This is another public announcement...". And Evil Twin will start with "A lot of people ask me stupid fucking questions..."

@EminemBase I agree about Survival, nobody can convince me that there is one good reason this song should be on the album. Even if the song is good. But the rest is just... exaggerating. Titles are generic, so the songs will be generic too? Aren't Criminal, Bitch Please II, Kill You, I'm Back, Marshall Mathers, Kim generic and something fans would've come up with themselves? I am pretty sure when he does a song, he doesn't start with the title and makes beat and lyrics about it, but he records the whole thing first and then comes up with a title. Cleanin Out My Closet could've been called Sorry Mama, it would've still been amazing. There are so many examples in every album I won't waste my time pointing them out. Titles doesn't mean shit.

Mostly dark with like 2 "single" tracks. Monster and Headlights. Rest of the album is Slim Shady.

This is exactly what I think too... Starting on Bad Guy and ending on Evil Twin made me start wondering about this.

If the album tells a story I will listen to it way more than I plan to
And what I have planned is ridiculous

I'm still optimistic, fuck the naysayers on TR, their opinion isn't mine. I'm gonna listen to it myself and get my own opinions off it, not get moody cause the track names are generic (like that even mattes, c'mon son...) and there's 6/15 songs with hooks that aren't Em's.
