by that logic most albums from the 80's and 90's are not classics

MMLP2 was supposed to be Eminem's MMLP2. Stop comparing albums that aren't alike at all.

MMLP2 was to revisit and "close" certain topics. It does not seem to be about revisiting the sound.

I actually really like the theory. I don't believe it, but it's cool to think about.

MBDTF is an objective classic, you can not like Kanye but to say it's not a classic is stupid. And it's certainly praised much more than MMLP, you'd have to live under a rock (trshady) to think otherwise

No such thing as an objective classic.

Yes there is…when an album makes as big of an impact as it did and receives as much universal praise as it did then it's a classic regardless of anyone's personal opinion.

Illmatic is a classic. Enter the 36 Chambers is a classic. Those are objective classics and yes MBDTF can be put in the same sentence as them.

I sometimes feel like Notalius just says things against the collective to be different regardless of what his actual thoughts are.

Not necessarily here, it's just something I've felt before. And it generally seems to involve threads with Class in them :-k

This is a real conspiracy and I'm going to solve it.

That's the thing, there aren't any actual measurable criteria, or boxes that need to be ticked before an album is declared a classic.
MMLP didn't have universal critical acclaim.
GKMC is barely a year old.
Flockaveli didn't really have that much impact.
All an album needs in order to be considered a classic, is enough people saying that it is.
And that isn't objective in any way.
You can't even objectively comment on the quality of any album.
At least, that's what I think.
