Even though Encore wasn't ever going to become Illmatic like Pillinem said. He does make a valid point which is that sometimes it takes time for great work to be appreciated. A great example is Relapse which while it will never be as good as Illmatic it is beginning to be appreciated now as being better than it was considered to be and it will continue to gain acceptance over time to newer and greater heights
