Tracks like Soldier, Sing for the Moment make it timeless.

TSSLP is really, really, really good, but it is hard to keep enjoying his awkward flow where he would rap off the snare like on Role Model, but the way Dre mixed the shit made it sound really awesome. He didn't really do anything to the vocals, they just did it all raw. I would call TSSLP the epitome of underground rap at the time, just crazy rhyming. It's amazing how he was able to rhyme so well and still tell a story, like on Brain Damage, but I feel like TES is the stronger album. It feels more smooth, He flows really clean on almost each track, The mixing is perfect, and I think he utilized his lyricism really well. I feel like TSSLP and TES are polar opposites. TMMLP being the perhfect record, and the other 2 being on the edge

That's pretty much all I have to say.

TES was the build up to Eminem's prime leading up to 8 Mile where he peaked.

:y: I agree with most of that. I don't feel any of the flows were awkward, but I do think his flow was improved dramatically on MMLP and TES.

I always had a thing for his flow on TES. Literally every track it flowed like butter and his voice was fucking amazing. His vocals on TES were beyond amazing tbh.

I agree, his flows were great.

Theres a couple dull songs.. Say What You Say and Drips. But I dont feel any song on the album is truly bad.

You don't hear Eminem rushing words in Role Model?

It's not really his fault, because that's how battle rap was. Just shouting shit to a beat.

I dont hear it in a negative way. Theres a way to speed up your flow without actually sounding like youre trying to squeeze it in and forcing it to happen. It's hard to explain, but I think the way he does it on Role Model just sounds like a manipulation of the words and sounds cool. I dont think he ever actually falls off the beat, which is where speeding up the flow would sound awkward.

I dont doubt that you hear it though, do you know the particular lines you felt were off? I don't actually hear him sounding awkward. I do hear the speeding up of certain words though.

It's more like he falls behind the beat or raps too fast. It's only by about a few milliseconds.

And I'm wrong, a lot of battlers preferred to battle acapella, which is why it's a standard format now.

The thing is, Eminem he could get away with it, because of his microphone presence. It's hard to explain, I just feel like he raps perfect for the most part no matter how he does it on those early albums. Who Knew is another example of the same thing. I think that's what Eminem was trying to do, bring some freshness to rap where everything sounds smooth and sexy. He wanted to sound aggressive and chaotic so he could stand out, which is why Infinite flows so smoothly and TSSLP doesn't.

Dam, I'm on a roll.

mmlp is #1 obv. Most ppl will rate tes #2 and sslp #3 but im sometimes not sure, both are fuckign insane. cant decide.
sslp sounds so fresh and has the best flow overall and he sounds more hungry, but tes seems like a more "complete" album.
