"drugs" is too general of a term. you have to be more specific when having this discussion. i feel he's at his best on weed and acid, but should avoid the benzo's and opiates. not saying i suggest he goes back to that phase, but i do feel there was some great music due to it. that 2004 interview he's obviuosly benzo'd out. but this is him (in 1999) on acid (as you can see by his eyes).

i speak from personal experience when i say he's fucking gone in those free's. he's so out there that the beat/lyrics are all he can focus on.

edit: i'm also certain he's on acid during the hiphop witch interview. but of course it was a little movie thing so they could've just told him to act as if. but the way he was telling to homeboy and passing that blunt it's pretty undeniable.

I don't see any reason to think he's high in the second two. In the first one, he sounds like he might have smoked a few joints...was similar to his demeanor on Howard Stern in 99.

Obviously, what Eminem/an addict refers to as "sober" differs from the way the general public things of it. If Eminem has a drop of alcohol today, he has technically "relapsed" and is not "sober." Back in the day, he could drink a beer or two and it was no big deal. That's not what the general public things of as "on drugs."

That 2004 interview wasn't even as bad as the 2006 106&Park and TRL ones. And definitely not as bad as his November 2007 Shade 45 interview

Yeah. He can't even try anything little because that'll lead right back to the pain pills and that'll lead to his death so he truly cannot fuck around with anything.

after proofs death he lost it completely
During the filming of 8 Mile he became an addict

Even if he was high while delivering these verses, that doesn't mean he wrote the verses high.

I thought it was confirmed many times that Em hardly did anything during SSLP.

I wanna say MMLP was heavily under the influenced, and it seems he sobered up a lot for TES recording/writing?

then encore he was a pilled out zombie

By the account of various people (including Eminem himself) it seems like most of MMLP was written on the spot in the studio and the rest of it during the european leg of his tour (which is when he contemplated calling the album Amsterdam). It's safe to say there was drug use involved without a doubt, it's just difficult to pin point exactly during which part of the creative process was it that he was using the drugs.
the interview in which he talks about the album originally being named Amsterdam he also mentions that he was fucked up the entire time, which is what made the name suitable.
