R.I.P Lamont ''Big L'' Coleman 1974 - 2/15/1999

Postby Almostlity » Feb 15th, '10, 20:06

Today marks the 11th year anniversary of the untimely death of Harlem rapper Big L. Big L was a member of the legendary DITC Crew and associated with Jay-Z in his last days before passing. Coleman was also the founder of the short lived rap group Children Of The Corn which included rappers Cam’ron (Killa Cam) and Ma$e (Murda Mase).

Big L released his first album Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous on Columbia records in March 1995. L’s second and final album was released by his manager Rich King, the album would go on to earn certified Gold by the RIAA.

Big L is viewed as one of the most prolific lyricists of his era, his witty jabs such as “I wasn’t poor, I was Po’..I couldn’t afford the O-R” and ability to keep his listeners enthralled through his storytelling rhymes in songs like No Endz, No Skinz.

Big L was certainly at the pinnacle of his career before his tragic murder, revered and channeled by numerous emcees before and after his death, Hip-Hop truly lost one of it’s best and brightest.

RIP Big L

Same sword they knight you they gon' good night you with
Sh.., Thats' only half if they like you
That ain't even the half what they might do
Don't believe me, ask Michael
See Martin, see Malcolm
You see Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome
See Jesus, see Judas; see Caesar, see Brutus
See success is like suicide
Suicide, it's a suicide
If you succeed, prepare to be crucified

What was the need for that? This has nothing to do with Wayne. Just show your respect without trying to cause an argument.

RIP Big L.
