1.Not all blacks like rap.
2.Rap's not only for Blacks.
3.Not all rap is about money drugs and sex...
4.Not all people who like rap are black
People who don't like rap, usually say
"Rap is crap that has artists like 50 Cent."
These are people who know nothing about rap, and judge it by what they see on TV.
Rap is poetry, despite what any other person says.
Rap is like poetry with attitude, poetry even if it involves a bit of gangsterism
Look at Mos Def. That is a real rapper.
Somebody like 50 Cent or Cassidy has nothing on somebody like Mos Def, but they are still rappers.
Most people say that rap degrades women. I don't really think so, because people need to realize..
A bitch is a bitch.
A hoe is a hoe.
A whore is a whore.
And a lady is a lady.
Rap has something called a beat to it, something that sounds catchy and something you can dance to.
For instance Tupac's California Love is something you can dance to.
And anybody that tries to say thats not a good song..
well isnt there a rock song that goes "I've got 2 tickets to paradise, pack your bags we'll leave tonight."
Some people say rap is senseless and doesnt talk about anything.
Wake up people thats what music is.
The ability to say express yourself, and it just so happens rap expresses itself more than others.
And anybody who doesn't like rap, thats fine, but dont talk shit about it when you don't even know about it.You have to think about what you're talkin about. This is what you people think of rap:
1. Rap puts a bad image on woman with all the misogyny included in the lyrics.
Saying all rap degrades women is ignorant. Many tracks, if you can find them,
have a positive demeanor towards women: Keep Ya Head Up and Dear Mama.
And please, I see tons of girls ass-dancing to Swing and Crank That.
You see guys dancing to Swing? No.
2. Rap encourages violence a.k.a. shootings, murdering, and killing the police.
It's true hip hop contains many violent lyrics,
but that's the reality of what happens in urban environments.
As Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre said in a 1997 interview, their lyrics do not encourage killing people.
If you're the CEO of Google and you happened to love a N.W.A. song called "Fuck the Police",
would you feel obligated to shooting down cops? I doubt it. They juts depict life as it is.
"You can't keep the truth hidden" - 2Pac
3. Rap lyrics are shit in general. I could write better lyrics.
Only thing I have to say about this is: listen to real hip hop and fuck you, hater.
Could you rhyme multies and internals while delivering a message or having good subject content?
Seriously, I'm not trying to sound like a hater, but writing rock lyrics is 10 times easier than writing raps.
4. Rap isn't real music. It's just some drums and some guy talking. Rock is real music.
Music is defined as a form of creative expression.
Rap is more versatile in terms of talking about different subject matter.
We talk about the harsh realities of life, the lush image of prosperity,
the mistakes of our mother country, the dissing of other emcees, the false depiction the media uses,
and just plain complex rhyming. There's much more I missed, but just a thing to think about.
I do admit some rock guitar solos are pretty sick, but the subject matter is similar.
Perhaps, it's just because both rock and rap are at a low point as of 2009.
5. Rap is for little kids who can't grow up and has a bad influence on people in general.
I've watched The Exorcist and do you see me masturbating with the Cross?
And I have 30-year old friends that loved rap since 13.
That's brilliant, just brilliant. Now to copy and paste...
But seriously I may have to use some of that in my piece, obviously putting it into my own words. Where did you get it from?
