Well you know me well, Mr. Starr.

I'll check him out, but I question his truthfulness to the title of "Modern Day Hippie". I see the Fear & Loathing Cover, and I notice he's wearing an Ashbury shirt (as in Haight & Ashbury, I assume) so he seems to have looked up on some of the cultural contributions of that culture. My question is whether or not he is using that as a marketing gimmick.

For instance, if he did some mushrooms, what would be his purpose in doing so? Because most hippies wouldn't call mushrooms "Recreational drugs", per se. Anyway, I'll be sure to check him out, but I can't help but be cynical about his intentions.

Not trying to belittle this at all though Chett, because your perspective is no doubt different from mine, making these questions mostly irrelevant.

I think your looking a bit too much into the title. :shifty:

Also Curren$y was on Young Money, but got kicked off for being too good (well that's what the fans say lol)
l

It's all good Chett, I didn't mean to come off pretentious or anything, but he seems to be using a culture for a marketing gimmick. It's not really bad, considering that's what everyone does, and the whole Retro/Live Green/Love Not War shit is hot right now. From a business perspective, he's doing the right thing, since he likes weed and makes music about it. He's appealing to an audience that will identify with the symbolism he's using.

Business-wise, good. Personally, I sort of am a hippie in many ways, and may be overly sensitive when it comes to capitalistic exploitation of the culture for that reason alone. I'll check him out anyway though, but the southern rapper thing also gives him a strike right away. It's not that big of a deal though, I'm sure you wouldn't be bumping something without value of some sort.

Well his business plan worked like a muthafucker on me :sweating:

& yeah he has tons of value. Like his taste for beats is amazing. He doesn't pick southern beats thank god. He's also not very big on the gun talk, but has a line here & there, mostly saying he is ready if something does go down.

He's like a black me....video games, weed, and bitches

Glad you found something that works for you Chet, lol. I'll check him out when I get a chance, for sure. Glad you told me he doesn't pick southern-style beats...that alone means that he must put at least minimal effort into his lyrics. Don't get me wrong, I'm not all about hardcore lyricism, but alot of southern rappers don't even try.

Just listened to "Modern Day Hippie". Misleading title... :shakehead:

Lol, Just kidding. Very relaxed though, and that's a good thing for sure. Writing style is nice enough, nothing too complex, but that's not the point. Nice stuff, I can see why you dig it. :y:
