Great Year for Hip-Hop: 2010

Postby EminemBase » Nov 11th, '10, 14:50

Many said that it would be and despite some albums that maybe fell a little under expectations (when don't they), I think it's turned out a good one.

Especially in comparison to more recent years.

Between; Big Boi, B.o.B, Cudi, Em, Kanye, Nas (and Damien) and others, 2010 has been a year to remember for mainstream hip-hop. Definitely on the up and up.

Nas & Damian's album is one of my favourites for years. Amazing vivid production, Nas sounding hungry as fuck (his best CD since It Was Written IMO), Damian producing some great verses, coherent all the way through, really meaningful - easily best of the year for me.

Big Boi, Joe Budden, Em, The Roots, Celph Titled, Meth Ghost & Rae, Freeway, Diabolic all released solid-to-great album.

B.o.B's album was decent, although lacked replay value personally.

I was dissapointed with Revolutions Per Minutes - havent played that for months.

I can't fuckin wait for Lloyd Banks' album to drop, as well as Hopsin :smoking:

I have to check out Nas' new shit :-k

I can't wait for Nas or Hopsin either.

But don't get the hype about Banks though, I don't dislike him but he seems totally average. Nothing compelling about his content or execution to me and he has about 500 people on his album lmao.

Feature-heavy albums = FAIL and the most annoying new cliche' of this genre. If you have 15 tracks and on 14 of those tracks other people have written verses and hooks, and the fact somebody else made the music to all of them... how the FUCK is that a SOLO album.

Should be classed as a collaborative album.

2010 might be my favorite year in hip hop ever...

Diabolic's Liar & A Thief
Kid Cudi's MTM2
Copywrite's Life and Time
Hopsin's Raw
Celph Titled, Joe Budden, Rhyme Asylum, Army of the Pharoahs.

Such a great year.
