Anyone else suprised he's still around? He's actually made a career off being a supposed 1 hit wonder. I've never minded him personally, never listened to his music but I can appreciate it for what it is: just entertainment. I also liked that he acknowledged his dance music isn't true hip hop. Mean Mug was good, it was a banger and 50 killed it. I think he can build a respectable career if he makes more tracks like that. I think his lyrics will evolve, I've seen a couple of his interviews and he is actually a pretty smart guy. I think if he ever wants to be taken as a serious rapper, he needs to change his name. I think he should go by his real name, DeAndre Way. It's already a "strong" sounding and marketable name.

i like most of his new album DeAndre Way so imo he's improved a lot of the last few years
and with Lil B on his label now, he's gonna be relevant for a while

I never noticed how Based Soulja was untill this year...
sure he isn't some lyrical battle rap monster or some shit...but I don't mind that...

the dude can rap some...he's just trying to get your attention

No I'm not surprised by it, BackStreet Boys sold millions of records for years on end. Still 'being around' doesn't make you good, it just means you're... Still around lmao.

Once you establish ANY sort of base, if you keep putting shit out you'll likely 'stay around' anyway so it doesn't mean anything.

He's a gimmick and he's still making gimmick music. I'm not surprised by any of it, I'd be surprised if he came out with the next Illmatic. But he's still making shouty / drony / dumb-fuck toy rap songs about Swag and chains over toy beats. Pretty much what I'd expect.
