I absolutely love Graduation, my problem is he isn't all that interesting as a rapper. He doesn't have much to rap about. Stuff like "Roses" was surprisingly deep, but for the most part it's the same old shit. Plus, with the advent of MBDTF he keeps getting treated like some revolutionary artistic genius, which I find pretentious as fuck and totally false.

You're joking.
Some topics Kanye has devoted whole songs to, with examples:

Racism/plight of the poor (Heard Em Say)
Religion and it's place in pop culture (Jesus Walks)
The over emphasis our society places on college (School Spirit)
His car crash/will to live and succeed (Through The Wire)
Blood Diamonds (Diamonds From Sierra Leonne Remix)
The introduction of crack cocaine by the government to stop the Black Panthers (Crack Music)
His relationship with Jay (Big Brother)
MBDTF was a whole personal story, not one BS/generic song

He has as many meaningful songs (relative to how many total songs he has) as Eminem. Kanye is one of the most meaningful/personal rappers in the mainstream.

I agree some people hype him as some artistic revolutionary in a very obnoxious/pretentious manner, but hate them, not Kanye.

^such a dope line haha, I hate Pitchfork...

In that case, his problem is clearly that he doesn't project emotion well enough to keep my attention properly. I've been listening to his stuff for ages, from Through The Wire through Late Registration and Graduation over the years, and almost every song just sounds very very similiar. He never really sounds like he cares lol. That's how it feels to me when I listen anyway.
