New album by KRS-One

The teacher has just released another collaboration album, and this time it is along with producer and rapper Bumpy Knuckles. I have yet to listen to it but I just wanted to give you all a reminder (which I'm getting pretty good at).

This one came out of nowhere for me personally which could be because of the choice of label, and their odd decision to give this almost fuck all promotion anywhere. It is only a couple a months ago that he released the disappointing Godsville album with Showbiz so I guess this is all we can expect from him this year as I simply refuse to believe that he is going to put out the album with Premier this year too.

If you want to know how this album came to fruition (that's a new word I've started using btw.) then here's a good interview with Bumpy:

To be honest, I've never been too keen on KRS-One, I find his voice very unappealing.

However, we'll see what happens after I listen to this.

And thanks for the interview. :y:

Yeah, I can see why some people dislike his voice. But really, KRS-one is one of the most consistent emcees and has one of the most confident deliveries ever heard in hip hop. In terms of that, I hold him same high regard as Ice cube, Eminem (both in their primes) and Brother J.

I was a big KRS fan, but I just can't be bothered even trying to listen to him lately.

The last time I listened to an album was Hip Hop Lives, and that's just because of what that album meant for hip hop, I mean it as Kris and Marley.
The New York Times - "Lloyd Banks may have stealthily become the most important rapper in New York".

It is the best KRS-One album I've heard in a long, long time. Really, I don't know if it's because of Freddie's lyrical contribution that he decided to step his game up a bit but damn... Parts of this album bring me back to some of his prime stuff.

The "teaching" gets a bit tiresome at times but whatever. Unlike Godsville, I really can relate to the lyrics.

Production is cool too. Nothing truly stands out but it is still tight.

Easily a top 10 album this year for me.
