Outta all the Rappers mentioned as greats Jay Z lacks the most Substance for over 10 Albums he has pretty much Rapped about mostly clishe topics like selling drugs, money and materalisim on ever album from Reasonable Doubt to Blueprint 3. He also lacks emotion and the ability to move the listeners with his Music that good Rappers are known for.


The thing with Jay Z also is if you heard 1 Song of his you pretty much heard them all that is how 1 dimensional he is in Subject Matter and style.


He also is known to use Singers on majority of his Songs who do the Hooks for him he never been a Rapper that had the ability to craft Hooks it's quite easy to pay a famous Singer to feature and record Hooks for your Songs where as good Artists at times can craft their own Hooks.

There are many overrated rappers and Jay-Z is one of them...not the most tho,not even close. This guy made Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint therefore he`s dope, its his last few albums that are tedious (except for few songs).

Not really, Jay-Z did much more concept songs, plus when they rap about similar topics Jay-Z is way more lyrical and not as annoying.

You misunderstood me. I like Pac, he's a great rapper.
But the praise he's getting for his lyricism is stupid.
Go search old threads where I was defending Pac and how he's one of the best rappers.

Hs influence is by far the biggest on this planet. But his lyrics are as amazing as other rappers.
Like I would place him as the best motivational and influential rapper ever but I won't list him under my favorite artists. I can understand why some do put him, but facts are facts. His lyrical game is only good, not 'wow' worthy. And lyrics and rhymes are important in rap as well as being influential.

Opinions are opinions, Pac is not garbage and only ignorant people think so. But he's not the greatest, at least not to me.

I think he probably is yes.

Although, as much as Jay-Z is insanely overrated in every respect... he still has a spark and a real character and, he's maturing into something kind of adult...

and he still has good songs.

But, I don't think I can call him more overrated than Lil Wayne who, is just awful. Lil Wayne I think has to be 'thee' most overrated due to the fact he's actually BAD / TERRIBLE, lyrically and artistically, and just makes shit fucking songs.

Where as, Pac (overrated) and Jay say, they still do deserve recognition.

The thing with Lil Wayne though, is he is not overrated by 'hip hop heads'. In fact he gets a lot of hate.

Whereas Jay-Z, Pac and Biggie are commonly in Hip Hop lovers top five or even GOAT.

So basically, Wayne gets (underserved) praise from people who generally aren't major Hip Hop fans compared to someone like Jay who gets insanely overrated by people who are (self proclaimed) Hip Hop purists
