Not a lie, per sé, though. "New music tonight" doesn't necessarily imply that he, himself, is going to release anything. (Someone is likely to have released some "new music" last night --> not a lie).
That said, he sure fools a lot of people, though, and that is what really matters. BUT, with 50 there's almost always a reason. He probably wanted to get on someone's nerves @ Interscope/put some pressure on Interscope/put himself in a better position in regards to some deal he was about to make etc etc...

Even in that 2005 backstage shit with Em posted recently he says something like if Em retires you'll see his face everywhere; and I know he was being jokey but on interviews with Em in the past too... sometimes interviewers ask Em questions and he answers for him about his own material... he's got a bit of a complex where he needs to be the most noticed in the room. If he is then he's relaxed and cool but if he's not he goes a bit out of his way to be that; and he wants all the credit with little of the hard work (creativity).

Apart the Em collabos & this next to come album 50 always drops music when he says so... I guess that's still gonna come but I don't expect a single or whatever but just some of those songs he drops whenever he says new music is about to come.
