yeah, what i'm saying is that hopsin is good and has a lot of potential, but he needs much more refinement before he could ever be considered a "great". he could develop and improve throughout an entire discography, which is why it's unfortunate that probably by the time he slows down he would be well on his prime.

as for knock madness, i have some hope itll do very well, but then again, some months ago, Hop Madness was going to be it's lead single. yeah........

He probably lacks the drive. Hard to say since I'm not him, but that could be it. I never really saw Hop as a rapper who'd be here for a while like Tech, but that's probably because I never really saw a reason for him rapping in his music, resolve. Rappers who've been around for a while have it, and you can feel their reasons for rapping still. With Hop, I could never really feel for a reason.

well, yeah, hopsin was broke and hungry. now he lives the life he wants. it's perfectly respectable to sacrifice some of your career to improve your overall wellbeing though.

I know, but there are rappers more successful than he is and are still hungry. TES Eminem is the best example of this, but if he's happy, then that's great.

I find Hopsin extremely corny sometimes, but there are some songs by him that I love, like Sexy Cyber, Chris Dolmeth, Ill Mind of Hopsin 5/6, Heather Nicole. Overall, he is an average rapper, in my opinion.

honestly, hopsin has mostly a cult following. if you go to internet hiphop communities, you'll definitely hear of hopsin, but 99% of people haven't heard of him probably. i doubt the sales will be affected.

This. Em's also dropping before Hop is, so it's not like you can only buy one album a month and that's your quota. (If it is, I feel bad for you... struggle isn't even the word I'd use here..) Of course rappers would be shook. It's Eminem.

@Menzo - True, it makes no difference. And if anything, as a fan of the two, I'd be happy to have 2 great albums at the same time.

As for Hopsin being corny/goofy, I actually have no problems with it. I liked Hop Madness; I guess it resonates with parts of my personality.

Also, we have to remember that Hopsin is like a version of us, he's doing a lot on his own and doesn't have the support that many other artists do. He's using FL Studio for fuck's sake.

*That's not to say that he's more entitled to a listener's attention/respect/whatever but just saying.

hop madness was an awful flop, imo.

but despite how much i criticize hopsin, i do enjoy his music. not just for the music itself but the person behind it. i have to respect hopsin for working really hard toward his dreams and achieving them.

a typical mainstream rapper, like fat joe for example, may be better than hopsin, but hopsins just a lot more interesting than fat joe

I only recently started seriously listening to Hopsin. I was a bit reluctant at first because I only heard good things. Which means I'd probably be disappointed.

However, I listened to RAW all the way through. The first time, every song sounded the same. Meh. Second listen, it clicked. I really liked the songs. He had a nice image to each song and his flow/rhyming was fucking awesome. I love his style of rapping.

Gazing at the Moonlight is not a bad album. I enjoyed it. I still bump it time to time. I honestly have a hard time putting RAW over it. I'm just not sure haha.

With that said... he still has room to grow. He has good concepts, but I'd like him to try to expand more. Hopefully Knock Madness will do this. :y:

and Eminem after TES is the worst example of this.

it's your choice whether you want to stay hungry, work a bit harder and put out more amazing material or just put out whatever the hell you want and just live your life not caring what people think.

Encore Eminem is difficult cause one could argue that it's the drugs, but I see your point.
