Curtis/Rate 50s studio albums

Postby Henry The Waffle Boy » Sep 18th, '13, 12:09

Why the fuck is Curtis (the album) so slept on? Personally I enjoyed it more than the soft Massacre that (from what I remember) was marred by 50 not waiting on Dre for more beats and releasing the album anyway. Curtis has a lot of dope tracks, I'd say most of them are, in fact I was going to list the best ones but I realize I like all of them. Personal favorites are probably My Gun Go Off, Man Down, Straight to the Bank, I get Money, Ayo Technology, Curtis 187 and Touch the Sky. So the question remains, with all these dope tracks on the album, why are most people not feeling it? I personally prefer it over Before I Self-Destruct too, though I'll have to give that one another listen as I've not listened to it in years but I wasn't feeling it the first time I heard it. I'll have to come back to that though, might change my mind.

In fact, we should rate his major label studio albums. I'll go first (and this is personal preference):

1. Get Rich Or Die Tryin' (This shit can't be touched, ever)
2. Curtis (lot of hard tracks, a break from the ballads)
3. The Massacre (had some really catchy songs I'll admit)
4. Before I Self-Destruct (I didn't feel it at first but like I said I'll give it another listen)

50 has had lame and dull rapping ever since he released GRODT, why are you surprised?

If anybody listens to a modern-day 50 Cent album for lyricism they are fucking retarded.

The Massacre has 50's most creative shit imo .. the beats weren't like on get rich wich might be the reason it wasn't accepted like GRODT even though it sold crazy too

The Massacre had some of my favorite 50 tracks tbh, Ski Mask Way and Ryder Music (whew). It has had some of the songs I hate the most (Candy Shop WOAT and Just A Lil Bit is gay as fuck). But overall, the album is dope if you exclude the singles.

Before I Self-Destruct has some dope records. It's a good album, but nothing memorable. Curtis has some decent records, but overall, it's nothing special. Just average rap albums tbh.

Boom, Aone's got it.

GRODT and The Massacre are my favorite 50 albums (mainly because they're the only ones I bothered to listen to).
