Is Andre 3k the most influential artist right now ??

Postby King Lance » Oct 1st, '13, 23:28

If you think about it, he influenced the biggest artists of our generation: Kanye West, Drake, Kid Cudi, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Big Krit,...

you could argue that 808's and the entire singing shit going on was birthed by "the love below" kanye "singing" on an album 5years after 3k did it.. yet kanye gets the credit for the "singing/rapping" movement.

and on the hip-hop side you can hear the 3k influence throughtout kendrick music from content and more specifically flow and voice changes (the alien voices). You can also hear stacks/cee-los influence in both K.r.i.t and Cole more than you do anybody else. The ATLiens era 3k is definitely being rebithed through kendrick/Cole/Krit

Well those artists have been influenced by other artists as well though... Andre is definitely a great & one who's influenced many rappers indeed though.

Man I'm currently listening to some 3 Stacks when I saw this. My friend who raps also claims 3 Stack has an influence.

I've always had 3 Stacks in my top 5 of all time ahead of Jay-Z.

Jay gets 7.

Kendricks really reminding me off pac so much lately.

But than again im not a Andre fan and haven't really given him a good listen so you'd know more than me bro.

Kendricks own words brother,

When asked to name three rappers that have played a role in his style, Kendrick said, “It's probably more of a west coast influence.” He then went on to list a few of the legends that he takes after. “A little bit of Kurupt, Pac, with some of the content of Cube.” the Compton rapper said.

Kendrick spoke about being a fan of Tupac since his childhood, revealing that he was even present for the original “California Love” video shoot with Pac and Dre. “They were in Compton for the first video shoot” said Kendrick, detailing his experience at the first shoot for the video (not to be confused with the second video, which is the iconic desert-shot clip that most are familiar with). “There was a whole bunch of kids there just witnessing it” he said excitedly.

When asked how Tupac may have felt about Kendrick's music, K Dot was fairly confident that Pac would feel he was carrying the torch for him. “I think he would thank me for keeping the legacy alive of speaking on something that's real. Not only to him, but what i feel everybody needs to be listening to."

yeah but you can definitely hear Andre in kdot, the whole "alien voice" on gkmc is from Andre tbh

I was listening to Aquemini recently and I actually heard more "Kendrick" in Big Boi tbh. Not saying Andre didn't influence him but I think Kendrick's rhyme style and delivery resembles Big Boi a little more.

I'll post a few songs later tonight :shifty:
