I actually enjoyed the hell out of this album. Great production and vocals. Very cohesive, sounds like every song was recorded for a purpose and not just to be recording. I'm not sure which song is my favorite yet because they are all great I just wish it was longer. Very very cool record though, I personally find it much better than his first album and that was very good but that's me. I can see why hip hop purist wouldn't like this project but I do, it's very unique and different from him. He sounds very mature and focused.

I'll echo what y'all said, really top notch production and overall nice vibe to it. I liked Dude for the all out rapping and Tangerine Girl got even better for me. Thought it got a bit weak towards the last couple of tracks though. Dope album but not as good as his first for me

Thoughts on Fast Life? I think it's alright, needed more of Asher tbh.

I really like G.R.I.N.D. as well, it's my favourite Asher Roth track :y:

I like Fast Life the most out of the three Retro Hash tracks available to listen to far, I'm a sucker for acoustic instrumentation in Hip Hop. The hook is really melodic also, which helps.

Have you heard this song? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yohDaTxrlZI
Acoustic instrumentation + melody + Hip Hop + Doritos.

I gave it a quick drunk listen wit ma bra last night...

First impressions are that there's a definite sound to go with that look - the production feels rich and detailed, in spots cheesy but mostly pulled back by some fly lyricism.

But, even though I normally crave continuity to the max... everything feels a bit too similar on there perhaps. But there's definitely 'a vibe' to it. I think disappointed by the amount of feature singing and not that much rapping doe... but overall it seems like a valid effort artistically. Gonna have to spin it wit focus.

This album is waaaaay underrated. Been listening to that shit on repeat ever since it leaked. Amazing album. I've been looking for an album with such a chill vibe that I musically enjoy for a long time. Only the last tracks are kinda average to me but the rest is great.

My fav songs are probably last of the flohicans and Tangerine girl .. I really wish that the verse was longer. I loved his rhymescheme throughout the few bars of that verse

Why?Image

It's a solid album, there's nothing wrong with liking it at all.

I know it's a solid album, I just couldn't believe going into it that I would like an Asher Roth album this much. Nothing at all like what I expected.

Also, does anyone else think that he bit the melody from parties at the disco from cocoa buttered kisses

he sings "parties at the disco" the exact same way chance sings "I think we're all addicted"

unless they're both using a famous melody I'm not familiar with
