Jay-Z Sells 680K,"It Didn't Live Up To People's Expecta

Jay-Z's Kingdome Come has topped T.I.'s King, having the best first-week sales of any hip-hop album this year with 680,000 units sold, according to Nielsen's SoundScan.
After selling a massive amount of units its first day, early reports had Kingdome Come selling over 800,000 copies with a chance at reaching 850,000. However, weekend sales then revealed that the album was projected to sell between 700,000 and 730,000 units. Now the official reports have surfaced, Kingdome Come has nabbed the top spot on the Billboard 200 with 680,000 CDs sold.

"The album was flying off the shelves, man," Anthony Omor, Customer Service Supervisor for New York City's Virgin Megastore Times Square, said. "It's number one in our store right now."

Meanwhile, lukewarm reviews may have contributed to Hov's numbers dropping. Bloggers all over the internet have slammed the album, and fans are increasingly voicing their disappointment with the God Emcee's comeback LP.

"I can see why they would say they're disappointed in the sales," Omor offered. "I think a lot of fans weren't too happy with the album. People were expecting it to be this great album and it's hard to live up to what The Black Album was, you know. I think it didn't live up to people's expectations."

Still, Kingdome Come registered the best first-week sales of any rap album this year and the third overall best first-week sales behind Rascal Flatts' Me And My Gang (714,000 units) and Justin Timberlake's Future Sex/Love Sounds (711,000 units).

Good. That's all i can say. Kingdom come was a pretty sucky album and didn't deserve the 800k, even 600k is a lot 4 it. Jay-Z's burned out - please retire.
