(white) Rapper John Brown On The Verge of Big Things

Postby IceAxe » Mar 23rd, '07, 23:39

Rapper John Brown, well known for his appearance on VH1's "ego trip's The (white) Rapper Show," recently revealed that he has been in negotiations with various record labels.

During an exclusive Q&A with SOHH, the self proclaimed "King Of The Burbs" also discussed his cast mates behavior on the popular show, his much talked about Ghetto Revival movement and the science behind his catch phrase, "Hallelujah Holla Back." [Watch Here]

"On the first night a lot of people got liquored up. I didn't drink cause I wanted to stay sharp and they stared acting like wild animals," said the Cali born rapper recollecting his first day on the show. "[Persia] pulled out her dildo and started swinging it around; that shit never touched me or nothing, she was just trying to get me to hit her or hit Sullee because they wanted me to go home. Unlike some other reality shows, I guess you can get physical, but in this one if you stole something or hit somebody, you were automatically going home."

Brown (born Greg Kaysen) also divulged he had well thought out scheme before participating on the show.

"I feel like I was only one with a strategy and a game plan prior to entering the show," the Cali born emcee explained. "A lot of people like to pretend like the cameras weren't there. I understood it was an opportunity to represent my crew, our brand, my lifestyle and everything beyond just spitting 16's, so [that's why] every other word [out of my mouth] was 'Ghetto Revival.'"

Ghetto Revival is the entertainment company Brown co- founded, which he says "does music, clothing, modeling, production and is also lifestyle and a mind state."

"We've had a lot of meetings already with a bunch of labels and distributors; independent and major," he divulged. "We are just trying to find the right home for us. Their are a lot of people that recognize our vision and wanna get it with us."

Brown also broke down the meaning behind the expression "Hallelujah Holla Back."

"Hallelujah Holla Back" is a phrase that the President of Ghetto Revival, Dred Scott, it kind of hit him one day when he was getting revived in the lab. It turned not only into a song, but a phrase in Ghetto Revival that we use to say 'what's up' or 'peace' to somebody," Brown explained. " It's a phrase of inspiration, you know seven syllables, it just feels good, 'Hallelujah Holla Back.'

Brown and Ghetto Revival are currently gearing up to release a mixtape titled "Hallelujah Holla Back."
