I only have Illmatic so I can't decide but to tell you the truth I'm not really into Nas. Don't think he's that great. Maybe I would find Stillmatic way better. Dunno...

i've got Illmatic copy [yeah, i got it for my bday one year lol], but i guess i like Stillmatic more. sounds more diverse for me, some really deep ones there like Every Ghetto or What Goes Around or My Country, some masterpieces like One Mic, and i totally love it and i guess i can say it's one of the few albums i can listen all the time and not get bored. :b:

illmatic is this raw hardcore hip hop classic pure underground value and a revelation for its time

stillmatic is this more thought out, perfectly mastered masterpeice with a bigger budget and more promotion

i prefer stillmatic, but illmatic did more for hip hop, imo

I love "Illmatic" because whenever I hear a crappy song, I can listen to this album and not have to worry.

"Stillmatic" to me is like on the same level.

Hardcore hip-hop heads will always say Illmatic because of it's impact and Influence on hip-hop and rappers. It's like that sayin' your favourite rappers favourite rapper is Rakim, 'cos chances are your favourite artists favourite album is Illmatic. It was literally that groundbreaking. But, technically, lyrically, conceptually, and performance wise "Stillmatic" is a far superior album across the board imo. I`m always sayin the same thing about Biggie's "Ready To Die" & "Life After Death", people usually show the greatest amount of respect to the album that introduced the artist, even though technically their following album's were better. For me "Life After Death" is a much better album than "Ready To Die", just like "Stillmatic" is to "Illmatic". People will probably say that "The SLim Shady L.P" was Eminem's classic album, even though The MMLP and The Eminem Show were better across the board, but another decade before we'll know the answer to that one.

not really, illmatic was such a big album for all of hip hop at the time, people who hate nas still recognise what illmatic did, and (if what ive read is right) mainstream/selling/publicity wise, illmatic sucked straight away onyl over time did it get publicity, like i said in my post, illmatic was a raw underground hip hop album, but i would say more people would have heard stillmatic and then went back and checked illmatic out

yea i see what ur saying but i'm saying is the first album anyone does is usually the hardest cause they gotta bring something new otherwise no one's gonna look at 'em... so like you said it brought something to hip hop, and that just proves what i was saying.
