Most Overrated Album

Postby Relapse.LP » Oct 12th, '09, 07:49

What is the most overrated album? I don't want you to give an album that most people already hate and then say it's overrated. (AKA Tha Carter III)

Give me an album that you think people rate too well... If you can deem a "classic" overrated, that is tough, but I got one.

All Eyez on Me is mad overrated.

MATW and 7DT both annihilate this album. But All Eyez on Me got my favorite 2Pac song: I Ain't Mad at Cha and it also got Life Goes On and Only God Can Judge Me... so it's not a bad album. It's a good album, but it's too formulaic and has way too many filler for my liking. Mainstream sound.

"That All Eyez on Me record was for Suge." - 2Pac

Yeah, All Eyez On Me is indeed overrated but it's still a good album.

If I had to choose an overrated Hip Hop album I would go for The Chronic. No hate, I actually love The Chronic. I love every single song. The beats are good but I still think a little overrated. The rapping is quite poor to be honest and the beats aren't the best either. I just think that it's generally overrated even though I really like it.

hmmmmm, honestly any album realesed in the 80's. Yeah it paved the way for what came after but what came after destroys it lyrically and the old stuff can't be called classics.

Paid in Full is also mad overrated.

I mean, I don't really give a fuck if at that time, the rapping was good, but it is not as good as the standards, say, 10 years later. But it's still a great album...

There's two Eric B. solos in there... just scratching... very old-school album, but I love it still.

Illmatic is overrated as "The Bible of Hip Hop", but it is definitely in top 5 rap albums ever.

Every Jay-Z album except Reasonable Doubt, still overrated but its legendary. Every Pac album. The Documentary by Game. Rakim: Paid in Full, Follow the Leader, Let the Rhythm Hit 'Em, Rakim is mad overrated. Nas: Illmatic, Stillmatic, Hip Hop Is Dead, Untitled. Those are overrated imo.

The key word is overrated. Album can be awesome, but still overrated. In that case, xrays kinda right ...
