Opinion of what type of hip-hop and artists you like don't matter. Rap is getting bigger, you have all differnent types anyway, from soulful Rakim, to political Immortal Technique, to storyteling Slick Rick, to street heavy Mobb Deep etc... it don't matter whether yoy don't like parts of rap , the genre is universal for those with an open mind and stop judging it by the mainstream. It's deeper than dressing up in baggy clothes with bandans on making gang signs. People forget Hip-Hop is a way of life and only Rock can claim to be bigger and more influential

Oh, I forgot to mention it.. Funny how some of the 'thugs' contradict themselves - they love Tupac who was the one to say it's not about being black or white and mentioned finding peace and ending war in the streets and next minute they go out and kill a random guy, because he lives in a different neighbourhood.

Open mind? That's one of the basic principles of hip hop in my opinion. Those who don't see it that way simply destroy the culture, make people believe it's all about material stuff - money and baggy clothes (funny, back in the 80's no one wore baggy jeans, just look at NWA's pictures..). Whether it's about mixing different genres of music, about sampling or about race - it really doesn't matter. What matters is that it's universal; last month I discovered an awesome song by a polish rap group which I usually dislike, because they're the "fuck the police" type of group, but that very song turned out to be pretty inspirational and.. they sampled Nas! Hah, that's the beauty of hip hop.

@ macdaddy: you're an idiot.
