Rate Lil Wayne as a rapper

flow: 8 (has good flow and can ride the beat well)
lyrics: 3 (no substance to lyrics, lives off short/corny punchlines..like dear mr. toilet I'm the ****, which only impress stupid college whores, 13 year old wiggers and borderline retards..absolutely 0 on story telling/making sense)

What I really dislike about Wayne is that he makes music that is fun to listen to but is an awful rapper overall. What makes me even more annoyed is the fact that he shows flashes of brilliance but never keeps it up. For example, Doctor Carter and his verse on No Love were AWESOME...he can rap well if he puts his mind to it or puts in a good effort..but overall he's just awful, especially compared to what people hype him up to be.

What I really dislike about Wayne is that he makes music that is fun to listen to but is an awful rapper overall. What makes me even more annoyed is the fact that he shows flashes of brilliance but never keeps it up. For example, Doctor Carter and his verse on No Love were AWESOME...he can rap well if he puts his mind to it or puts in a good effort..but overall he's just awful, especially compared to what people hype him up to be.

its hard for me to rate Wayne because he has so many different styles and he has made some awful shit, but what I will say is that anybody who calls his No Love verse awesome and trashes his other work hasn't heard any pre Carter 3 stuff - I mean EVERY verse on Da Drought 3 is better than that

Pretty fair review. I'm surprised people rank him with some of hip-hop's heavyweights (Nas, Em, Pac, Big, Jay-Z). Wayne has yet to make a classic album. I won't say he'll never make one though since he's still passionate about hip-hop and has his moments here and there, but he's just way too inconsistent.

Wayne COULD be a good rapper, if he cut the bullshit. Wayne is a very smart guy who is following in the wrong person's footsteps (Birdman). If someone actually dope woulda snatched Wayne up, he might have been worth listening to. He shows twinches of actual good lyricsm, but he's just way too caught up in his money to really make any kind of classic. Even a good album would almost be asking too much at this point. He will let his money talk for him, while every other rapper who is better than him (there are a lot) will let their skill talk for them. That's just how it is. How much money you have doesn't make you any more talented than anyone else

Wayne needs to basically grow up if he wants any chance of redeeming himself in my eyes
