And a lot of people say he was just emotion etc. which isn't true. That came later in his material and he certainly began to sacrifice certain elements of lyricism to emphasize emotion (as Em did), but he was still an incredibly potent lyricist and poet and one of the best. He was by no means a slouch in terms of rhyme schemes, or flow. It's just mis-remembered and forgotten because of songs like "Dear Mama" and what would ultimately define his legacy.
Yep.
I dare anyone to listen to 2Pacalypse Now and tell me that's not lyrical.
Even his last release The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory was lyrically insane on so many levels and occasions.
Good shout on Xzibit too. Underrated as fuck.
I'm not going to make a list because I'll keep editing it once I realize rappers I've left out, so for now I'll just judge you guys from a distance and sit on the fence.
ps. lol @ Lil Wayne for Life. But then again, this is the same dude that argued Eminem will be remembered for being from Kansas City rather than Detroit when he dies and Pac is remembered for being from NY than Cali now that he's passed away. I like bringing this up, it always makes me smile and realize how far hip hop as come where anyone and everyones a fan.
