Solomon is an immense battler. Not one of my favourite though.

Am I the only one who didn't think much of Em as a battler? He had the charisma but didn't think he was really that great, pretty repetitive and bland from all the footage that's out. His third verse of I'm Remember would work so well as a battle verse though. I guess as his songwriting got better, his battle verses would have too.

I was just watching a couple Eminem battling videos and his lines were sick:

"What you need to do is practice on your freestyles/Fore you come up missing like Snoop Dogg's police files"

"I'm moving in for the kill, and I got he trap set/I can tell you're whack as fuck, and I ain't even hear you rap yet"

"This whole battle is mismatched like yo outfit" < that line made me laugh no lie.

Eminem didn't battle during the generic setup - punchline, generic setup - punchline era. I'm not entirely sure who first introduced that (Eyedea?), but it's a tool that completely changed the game. Now you're expected to come with non-stop personals/relevant disses, or you don't really have a prayer.

And that's in the rare moments where it actually is a freestyle battle.

When it's a written battle, it's a foregone conclusion. 5+ syllable multis every line with non-stop relevant disses.

Eminem could do that format, but he'd have to actually get to know shit about the guys in the Grind Time scene first.

This is true enough. He did have some decent stuff but he recycled a lot of it. I just didnt feel he was that much better than the people he was facing at the time, despite his far better charisma/delivery.

I'm probably too used to watching more modern battles to appreciate how different it was then. Imagine how fucking amazing it would be if prime-Emimem and written leagues peaked at the same time. Prime-Em vs Illmac. Wow.

I'd be curious to see how well Eminem could flip lines in battles. The written battle format would give him ample time to think of rebuttals, so I'm thinking he'd be pretty good. I don't know if he'd be as good at it as Justice (the battle rap GOAT for my money), The Saurus, or Kid Twist, but he's quick-witted enough to do it.

Interestingly enough, Eminem battled Marvwon on the set of 8 mile, and he's one of the top Grind Time guys now ("this guy's ripped...literally").

Is there a video of him battling Marvwon? That's pretty fucking cool, I've always like Marv's style. I remember watching those 8 Mile extras but was probably before I was into battle rap.

Is Justice the Australian guy? Never really properly watched him. Illmac's probably my favourite of all time, especially since he's come back strong as fuck in the last year or so.
