CrashBand's Top 20

Postby CrashBand » Apr 24th, '13, 12:43

I made a ridiculously excessive "Top 20 List" in another thread, but thought I'd make it its own thread so people have a way to check out some potentially new music.

There's a little taster for each album--if you haven't heard of it--of course, the Eminem albums don't need introducing.

1. Atmosphere - When Life Gives You Lemons, Paint That Shit Gold

Cool list.

My list would probably be something like...

Illmatic
Paid In Full
36 Chambers
Midnight Marauders
Straight Outta Compton
Good Kidd Madd City

and i'm too lazy to think of the rest

Maybe words offensive - free speech I don't fear it
Maybe music can take us to a place so atmospheric

I think a lot of them won't really be your type bigray.

Out of them, perhaps, Copywrite, Mos Def, Bliss N Eso and Common.

bigray wrote:The artists that you listed that I dont know make me wanna check them out..which I will get too them soon enough.. like Atmosphere, Eyedea(I hear good things about him, just really have not had the time), Spoonfull, Copywrite, Soul Khan, Grievs, Bliss N Eso, and Rhyme Asylum. As long as they dont sound like mainstream Id like to check them out.

they are the exact opposite. they make the underground.
Rhyme Asylum has the best punches in the game.

Always a tough one.

My favourite tracks--Poinson Penmanship, Attitude Problem, Ground Zero, Unreasonable, Lost, Iller Instinct--are State of Lunacy tracks, even though Solitary Confinement is probably more consistent/coherent.

State of Lunacy aged a hell of a lot better for me as well.

Yeah, I was surprised as well. But if I'm being honest to myself, I just fucking love the album.

It's a "favourite" list as opposed to a "best" list. But I feel I could put up pretty strong arguments against more generic picks of albums from the 90's--such as Wu-Tang, Snoop Dogg and NWA.
