Childish Gambino - "Camp" (2011)

Postby Eedee » May 1st, '13, 08:54

There's an old thread but I won't bump it. I'll just make a new one.

A friend showed me this album and I instantly fell in love with it. CG is now one of my favorite rappers.

This album is beyond dope. It's crafted beautifully, each song flows so well to one another and the cinematic vibes they give off is just orgasmic. One of the best albums I've ever heard.

Can't wait for his next solo project. (Culdesac and Royalty were dope as well!)

Favorite Tracks:

Outside
All The Shine
Letter Home
Heartbeat
L.E.S.
Kids

Probably but he still managed to put himself on the map correctly anyway.

So members gotta talk about Gambino to get you out of Backstage, ha? :sweating:
Gambino needs to focus more on his music than other things, he's treating rap as a side job and it's sad because he's got potential to do big things.

Yeah... I was gonna say he probably gotta stop juggling a few thangs at the time & should focus on rapping for a while.

But that's what makes CG so versatile as a person/artist. He can act, sing, rap... write.

He's probably taking his time with a new album and crafting it. He's meticulous with his craft. I love it.

Haha you got me :sweating:

I actually have no idea what he's up to right now, he finished filming Community a while ago. I hope he's working on a new project.

Nah that's great actually but him not been 100% focused at any given thing is one of the reasons he doesn't get the deserved recognition.

For example Ice Cube's status of easily one of the greatest ever was totally shaken right after he started to do goofy comedy movies even though a lot of them went classics as his music albums prior to his acting career.

A lot of people love his character on Community.
A lot of people love his music.
A lot of people love his skits on YT.
A lot of people love his movies.

With that said, it just doesn't feel like he gets his credit.

I think his last stand-up was Weirdo in 2011... He just released a mixtape last year. Maybe we'll see something from him this year.

This is my point homie... he distracts the hell outta the general public & that makes it hard for him to get the deserved recognition. It is a common situation for people with multiple talents who juggle a few thangs at a time. There are ones that can do it but those ones are rare.
