Does anybody here listens to UK Rap?

Postby Whitefox » Jun 29th, '13, 09:17

First of all, i'd like to explain why i like UK rap. It may sounds weird, but i'm very excited of British English in terms of pronunciation. I prefer British English over the American English. For me listening to UK Rap is such a pleasure lol
So I started to get into UK Rap Scene not long time ago, but I have my favourites already.
The first one is Leaf Dog. He also has his crew - 3 Amigos. The way he rides beats is godlike, for me at least. Unfortunately, i cant find any lyrics on the internet thats why i understand only half of his songs and cant say anything about rhyming, but it seems pretty complex for me.

The second group is OSB'z. it is consists of Scizzahz & Wizard. They have pretty interesting, but monotonous flow. They are on some punchline shit as i understood.

Another one is Freedom of Press.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=af3CcPWBPnU
I cant find them on youtube because of their fucking name. Pops up some political bullshit.

There also Dirty Dike(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3o5ydbIc-4), The Four Owls (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPCCc1vPFFo),

So Does anybody else listens to UK Rap here? What other artists do you know?

I personally think UK rap sucks because of the accent. Rap, to me, can only sound good if it's in an American accent. That's just my opinion. I used to listen to some of N-Dubz hip-hop back in the day.

And I just remembered...what I said about rap only sounding good if it's an American accent. :p There's an exception...
I absolutely fucking love this song....even though it's entirely in French and don't understand French for the most part, lol.
"So one last time, I'm back, 'fore it fades into black and it's all over, behold the final chapter in the saga, trying to recapture that lightning trapped in a bottle twice, the magic that started it all...tragic portrait of an artist tortured....trapped in his own drawings..." - Bruce.

^^ Well I got your point, you just dont like UK accent, whereas i prefer this accent to american. I dont know, I just like British English more than American. As for N-dubz, i checked it out and didnt like it, cause it is like American wannabe in terms of sound. Those artists in my list have specific and unique sound, completely different from N-dubz and it fits them perfect.

lolll Leaf Dog sounds hilarious, he looks like that balled guy from Something About Mary. the accent works for him, I couldn't listen to a whole album of his, but the Walk With Me song was nice

I dabble. I personally love their accents.

Every man and his dog has listened to Rhyme Asylum because a few prominent member advocated them as the best rappers of all time (they're not).

Klashnekoff is probably UK's best hip-hop artist.

I also listen to a bit of Cruger and Lowkey.

Sometimes I like to get on my grime ish as well to hear some raw spitting. Insane Rhyming.

His most popular shit is video-game related, but his other stuff is what goes on his albums.

Very true.

YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/dontflop

I'd recommend having a listen to Mic Righteous. He's one of my favourite rappers atm. I've linked the lyric video just in case you have trouble understanding him.

You may also like Proverbz.

You've probably heard of Lowkey, but if you haven't..

You could also check out Rhyme Asylum, Devlin..

I gave another chance to Rhyme Asylum and they are sick. Now i got a question - where can i find beats like Ground Zero and Art Of Raw? Straight heavy depressive beats -drums, bass and guitar/piano melody. When i try to look up such things on youtube or soundclick - there is fucking pseudo-epical orchestral shit when it comes to description "angry hard beat".

I don't really know the best way to find beats, I think it's certain websites that members like Eedee and Geno could answer better.

But Rhyme Asylum released a few instrumentals: Broken Window, Unreasonable, Art of Raw, Straight Jacket Immortals.

The only beat I love out of their released ones is Broken Window

I used to really want an Iller Instinct instruental

I've only heard the obvious ones like Dizzy Rascal, Tinie Tempah and Lowkey. I'm Australian and love my aussie hip hop but understand why a lot of people don't like the accent. However there is a lot of aussie hip hop where the accent isn't overly prominent and I'd love to hear people's opinions on some artists/songs soon.
