"Yesterday, on the road to Vancouver, a truck carrying The Yeezus Tour’s custom-made video truss and 60-ft circular LED screen was in an accident that damaged the gear beyond repair. This gear is central to the staging of The Yeezus Tour, and central to the creative vision put forth by Kanye West and his design team at DONDA. As a result of this event, it is impossible to put on the show and The Yeezus Tour will be postponed until these essential pieces can be reengineered and refabricated. Kanye West will not compromise on bringing the show, as it was originally envisioned and designed, to his fans. The Vancouver, Denver and Minneapolis dates have been postponed. Further details on the affected tour dates will be announced shortly."

Gotta disagree with the above comments.

Kanye is a performance artist. He had a vision and he wants to give his fans that. If I had bought a ticket, I would rather wait for an exceptional performance than see a sub-par version.

It's like watching a theatre production with all the characters in their usual clothes. It just doesn't work when you have a vision.

His show is not just about the music: the spectacle elevates it.

If Em went on tour and had similar ideas for stage designs and they were compromised, I would sincerely hope that Em would not compromise himself.

Yup.

There's been shows where Eminem and Tech N9ne have had huge stages and props / backdrops, and also shows where they haven't had them (I'm thinking mainly of the Red Bull EmSee thing for Em, and his Relapse private show), and they kill it no matter what. The rest is honestly decoration, but for Kanye it's a must because he's a subpar artist. If he went out there with just a mic and a beat playing it'd be boring as fuck.

I don't think visual effects and all that makes you a great performer, all that does is polish a turd. I love some of Ye's music, but the best thing about his live show is everything but HIS own ability as a performer, he's terrible.

Watch one of his Runaway performances. He has done this track without the stage designs and still been able to put on an awesome show.

He has a vision and he achieves that. You cannot compare it to a straight-rap performance because it is so much more artistic. It is a PERFORMANCE, much in the same way that Em's early tours incorporated electric chairs, chainsaws etc.
