Fucking retard. I don't even think Nas will do much more than laugh. I mean is Soulja Boy even worth the time it'd take Nas to freestyle a song better than both his albums and anything he'll ever do in the future. Soulja Boy could cough his kidney out of his tear duct and wouldn't be ill enough to even mention Nas

He measures success by how many views you get on youtube..and that is pretty sad..
I don't even know what to say by this....didn't Nas even support him?

TruEmFan wrote:I'm not saying Nas single-handedly killed Hip-Hop (), but he wasn't helping it either when he claimed Hip-Hop is dead. I know he said he meant that Hip-Hop was just turning too commercial and all that, but with a title like that, he's obviously talking about commercial Hip-Hop because we all know there are still plenty of underground MCs that haven't bought into the trends and all that shit.

But aside from a few chosen people... That plan didn't really work, did it? Commercial Hip-Hop is still in a shitty state.

so what, his plan didn't succeed, but it's not like it failed either... the direction it was heading was leading to this outcome anyways, he tried to change the way but it didn't work.

so now he getting on lil wane’s dick, cause he sold a mill though like I said he might have sold a mill in one week (an by any standards that good) though he’s a long way off being a god of hip hop

Nas' statement had no effect on anything except possibly new rappers that wanted to come in. The fact of the matter is that Nas has fallen from a hip-hop money machine to a guy with a relatively strong commercial following. I mean his past 3 albums have either BARELY gone platinum or missed the boat all together settling for the high hundreds of thousands, so to say that his statement even reached out to the masses is arguable, but not true. As for him messing up people's money, come on, aside from Get Rich or Die Trying, Tha Carter III, and anything Jay-Z, Kanye, Eminem, TI, or maybe Luda release who really sells anymore? It used to be common to sell 2 million copies in 2 months. Now people are barely going platinum within a year. That's why tours have become so much more insane, because rappers have to make the money they would normally make from an album off of touring. CD sales have been on a steady decline since the late 90's.
People have been saying hip-hop is dead since Jam Master Jay got shot, and rappers have been releasing shit that has been steadily proving that commercial hip-hop is no longer a reflection of talent or lyricism, but a reflection of how well producers can make you want to get up and dance. Just like Lil Wayne didn't coin the phrase best rapper alive like Son Bitch (SB) tries to claim he did. Jay-Z started that shit and whoever has the newer album out is going to be proclaimed as the best just because they're hot at the moment. Lil Wayne may be the most popular active rapper right now, but that's about it. Wait until Em and/or Jay drop and see how quickly the dynamic changes.
