KRS-One Speaks On Jay-Z Stealing “Death of Autotune” & “Blue

Postby lil_bayly » Jan 11th, '10, 20:37

KRS-One & Buckshot (tho mostly KRS in this clip) talk about their song Robot, which debuted months ahead of Jay-Z’s “D.O.A.”. Both records were essentially saying the same thing. He talks about the respect that Jay-Z showed in re-using the theme, and also about naming his “Blueprint” series years after KRS released his own album titled “Blueprint”. Also talks on a possible collab on the song and his overall feelings on Jay-Z.

Overall good listen :y: :y: :y: :y: :y:

Good listen.

Finally Jay-Z getting exposed more. Anybody who doesn't know he's a biter and a thief of an artist doesn't know shit about him.

Non-stop biting of Biggie, Big L and other lyrics throughout his career. Now he's biting Kanye's image, eating off him.

Nas also spoke about him stealing the name Blueprint from KRS-One too. He steals off everybody. Totally overrated biter.

Yeah but this whole thing is old. KRS has previously mentioned all of this before D.O.A. thing... Both KRS and Jay are dope anyway.

KRS yes but Jay nowhere near as everybody makes out.

Everything about him is stolen lmao.

First, his name Jay-Z, re-working of his mentor's name Jaz-O which his mentor accused him of stealing and Jay-Z denies it. Although... Try explaining how you get from Shawn Carter to Jay-Z... Not so easy but to get from Jaz-O to Jay-Z... Looks a little more likely.

Then he steals and continues to steal Biggie's, Big L's and other's rhymes.

He steals an album name from KRS-One and now a song concept and takes advantage of the fact that he's on a major scale so will look like originator. The guy is a fraud in hip-hop. He's like two midgets standing on each other's shoulders, wearing a long coat. Trying to pass themselves off one tall man. Kanye's image is his latest robbery.

He did steal his mentor's name. Jay-Z's first stage name was ''Jazz'', if you don't see the similarity between ''Jazz'' and ''Jaz-O'', well then you're in need of an eye exam.

Well Jazz-O was his mentor not visa versa and Jaz-O reckons Jay-Z got his name from him.

And since he steals everything else, I'm inclined to believe Jaz-O. Even if he didn't steal the name so what, stolen an album name and non-stop Biggie rhymes.

I'm fairly certain you're misreading what Zu was meaning to say. He's agreeing with you, and I don't think he meant to say that Jaz-O stole anything from Jay-Z; rather, that Jay got his first stage name, "Jazz", from Jaz-O and only continued to move on with the theme with "Jay-Z".

Either way, you're both right, I just thought I'd point that out. Perhaps I've misread something myself though.

Apart from the title, how else? I'm just asking cause I haven't noticed any similarities so I'd quite like to know.

I understand why some people dislike Jay-Z for these reasons but seriously, just cause of that you're going to hate on all his music?

Yeah I dislike him for being a theif / fraud.

But aside from that, I don't think his music is that great either. I can tell he freestyles most of his shit, I've always thought he's been grossly overrated in every department.

There's many superior. Mos Def and Redman to name but two. And yeah he does consider himself a god too, he's a fraud to me.
