Also so with the story on this album...I need some help with the chronological order of it because it obviously isn't told in the right order. Right now I'm thinking it goes Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe (Not sure if any "part" of the story is in this song except for the skit at the end) -> Backseat Freestyle -> Art Of Peer Pressure. Now at the end of that song it talks about Kendrick going to Sherane's so that leads me to think that Master Splinter's daughter would be next but at the end of that song it says that he saw the two guys in the masks when he got there. However on Money Trees he said "I fucked Sherane then went to tell my bros" so that implies that he was already there and there was no conflict. So basically I'm confused about the middle of the story but cause the end with Sing For Me, I'm Dying of Thirst -> Real is obvious

In fact there are different perspectives, characters > Kendrick Lamar (present kendrick), K.Dot (young Kendrick)
Sherane, Kendrick's family (his parents and his uncle Tony), Dave, Dave's bro Keisha's sister, Sherane's family (her granny, her cousins & brother), Joey (a Kendrick's Childhood friend) and L/Boog/Yaya/Lucky who are friends (I'm still not sure what they really are)

The story opens as a flash forward, Kendrick describes Sherane and her family's history.
Bitch Don't kill my vibe doesn't really follow Sherane's story, This is the present Kendrick Lamar who talks about his new celebrity & people changing arround him and his family.
He's just trying not to lose his credibility :y:

Backseat freestyle > He's in the car with his friends, they're having fun and kendrick is freestyling over the Hit Boy's beat.

The narrative story only begins with The Art Of The Peer Pressure which follows Backseat Freestyle's story.

In my opinion, Money Trees is just a summary of what happened in the previous songs with new details > As you said, he Banged Sherane and went to tell his bros (Backseat freestyle + The Art Of The Peer Pressure)
The song perfectly follows The art of the peer pressure IMO because he's talking about money to his friends and Kendrick's mother sent him a message because she wanted her car back (Her msg implied that kendrick and his homies were still in the car)

I didn't understand the chorus at first but I found this explanation on another site:
The chorus "Everybody gon' respect the shooter/But the one in front of the gun lives forever." is important, not just as a general motto but in regards to the events that later take place in this story. (Kendrick's Uncle Tony was shot and killed at Louie's Burgers)
this event is supposed to be a snap back to reality from the "dreams of living life like rappers do."

Kendrick came back home in Poetic Justice and he is going to see Sherane... He also describes the relation they have and the skit at the end of that song is another flash forward but this time, it's a flash forward to "Sherane aka Master Splinter's Daughter" and kendrick explains what happened at the end of the intro. He also got problems with the 2 guys who were waiting in front of Sherane's house.

Good Kid introduces a new theme in this album and I think that Kendrick talked about what happened with the 2 guys he mentioned in Poetic Justice and Sherane aka Master Splinter's Daugther > "For the record I recognize that I'm easy prey/I got ate alive yesterday"
Then, he talks about gangs, the police, violence etc. and it leads to introduce Maad City

Swimming Pools is a song about alcohol... Alcohol is dangerous but that substance can help him with depression > He seems depressed because of the maad city he's living in

This is my interpretation of that story :y:

Hmmm so it goes

Backseat Freestyle (He gets picked up) -> Art Of Peer Pressure (He fucks around with his friends and gets high and robs the house) -> Master Splinter's Daughter (He gets dropped off at his house and gets the van and then goes to Sheranes) -> Poetic Justice (He gets jumped by Sheranes friends) -> Swimming Pools (He meets up with his friends and drinks to feel better then they go find the guys and dave gets shot) -> Sing For Me, Dying Of Thirst -> Real
