So who do you pick?

Nah I won't pick... The West coast got me into hip-hop & I love it to the full... always will. Then when I went to New York for the first time like more then 10 years ago I got totally crazy about The East coast scene too even though I've been a fan of it from before... I definitely can't pick in between those two.

I could put Dirty South & Midwest on the back seat as a whole but then again some artists outta both have had great impression on me too... ironically my all time fave one is from the Midwest & that's probably the region I've loved the least as a whole.

Mid-west. Prepare for all of you to disagree, or a lot of you.

West Coast tends to be a lot of unrelatable (at least to a lot of people) gangster shit. Pac was good at it cause it was kind of fresh at the time and he was fucking amazing. others feel like copies. NWA is good, Dre, etc, but the newer gen..mehh...

East coast seems like rich rappers wanting hoes, money, etc, and have no subject matter. There are some exceptions but it depends.

Southern is interesting. Wayne was really good at the peak and beginning of his career but we know where that went and Yela (imo) is good, but he needs more interesting subject matter if he ever wants to reach a bigger stage. Or a different label, that'd help too.

Mid-west does have the most variety, and I think it's all in terms of being relatable. Em, for example, I can throw on "Cleaning out my closet" and relate it to my mom or "25 to life" and relate that to a breakup and there are many other midwest rappers like that. Tech N9ne is another good example. "Suicide Letters" and other tracks like this from various artists. Even fuck around tracks are interesting and things people can relate to. Southerners, Northerners, etc, need to realize that some of the shit they say isn't really seen or heard in the mid-west. Shit we do here is kind of seen everywhere though, it just spreads.

I hope that made sense, and I'm not anticipating a whole lot of people to agree with me. But that's how I've always felt.

Right now, I'd take the West Coast, Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy, Ab-Soul,... all amazing rappers. The South is also very interesting because of Big Krit.

Overall, I'd chose the West Coast (Tupac, NWA, Kendrick Lamar, Game) or the Mid West for its variety : Kanye West, Eminem, Lupe Fiasco

I've been a big fan of the South as of recently. Big Boi, Bun B, Yelawolf, Killer Mike, and of course, Big KRIT have been killing shit.

No doubt.
Mid-West:
Kanye West, Eminem, Obie Trice, Royce Da 5'9'', Machine Gun Kelly.

However, I listen to so many artists from all regions.

Obviously the east coast is the best. You can go on and on forever just mentioning legends from there. There are certain acts from the south and West coast that most of the east coast can't tough though.

If it was only about the most legends & the most ground braking & classic albums then the Eeast Coast definitely leaves the rest regions behind... no doubt about it. In that matter New York alone is gonna hold its ground against any region as a whole.
